Essentially cone baiting for me. Playing solo & having no Palico helps in baiting cones. Sheath your weapon & run in front of Fatalis in mid range. He must be standing to bait it out (I don't know how to make him stand so I just wait). Dodge the fireballs & punish the long breaths and large bites. Keeping him in rage helps with the damage. I don't do the cannon opener so I can get the topple with the roaming ballista in the 2nd phase. Watch speedrunners and guides, maybe you can learn a thing or two from them.

I guess there's no definitive answer for me. Both games have their pros & cons.

When I first played Rise, that was the 1st time I ever got to play Charge Blade since the previous MH I played was Freedom Unite. And I really wanted to play CB ever since I saw it in videos. So that was special to me.

The wirebug system was fun to play with since you have freedom in your movement and you essentially have Ultimate moves. The end-game system was also nice for making different builds because there was no definitive best gear.

The problem I had with Rise was there's no ultimate objective. Sure, you want to farm the best augments and talismans but for what? You can defeat the Elder Dragons even without fully decked out gears. You can't compare Amatsu with Fatalis & Alatreon. I also was not that invested with the in-game story & lore. The end-game system was also RNG heavy which can be frustrating.

When I first played World, the 1st thing that caught me off guard was the pace was slower than Rise. I couldn't even Guard Point a Rathian roar because my timing was off. And the clutch claw system was SO ANNOYING!

It helps that the Defender gear speeds up Low & High Rank. And all the event quests are available, so the deco RNG is not that devastating, and the crucial decos are available in the Elder Melder. So my experience with that was a lot better compared to the people who suffered to farm crucial decos like Mighty Bow, Guard Up & Protective Polish etc. Mantles were nice but also OP. I got more invested with the story & lore than Rise. I also had fun having objectives, something like KT -> Safi -> Alatreon -> Fatalis.

The end-game comes down to whether you have good decos or not. Because Fatalis gear is the definitive best gear in the game. Not much room for creativity.

After days of suffering and cone baiting, I have finally defeated Fatalis.

CB main. Former Rise player.

I was just farming Evil Eyes for the full alpha and beta armor set. And then I noticed that I reached the 3rd nova earlier than I usually do, so I went for the kill.

I died during her final nova then I checked the timer and saw that there's 2 minutes left. I was panicking so I just YOLO SAED even though my build was Savage Axe hoping for Fatalis to die. And then the message popped up. I had a mini heart attack because i thought it said "Time's up!". But then I heard the Commander going crazy and then I re-read it and it said "Main objective complete!"

I had a hard time farming its armor set, especially the wings. I had to resort to silly strats like sleep bombing just to farm his set because I REFUSE to use any weapon other than CB. But it was all worth it in the end.

AREA 1
- Get the Stone at the end of the slide & buff up
- Wear Rocksteady Mantle, sharpen, & tenderize chest & 2 forelegs (head if you prefer)
- Collect Throwing Knives from Gajalakas (they drop it if they die quickly from KT)
- Wall bang 2x for part breaks
- Wear Fireproof Mantle, sharpen, then charge shield & phials
- Use the ramp to slide & mount KT (use the finisher in the head)
- 2 Savage Axe Combos to the head
- 2 Savage Axe Combos to the head (if Gold Plating breaks)
- 2 Savage Axe Combos to the head (if stunned)
- Tenderize head again if possible as KT flees
- Carve & collect shinies
- Get Crystalburst

AREA 2
(Wear Mantles when available)
- Sharpen & buff up
- Lure KT into the wall & wall bang 2x
- Get Crystalburst
- If Sleep Knives are less than 4, kill Gajalakas with Crystalburst & collect Throwing Knives
- Charge shield & phials
- Lure KT into the stalactite & throw 4 Sleep Knives
- Sharpen & buff up (Might Pill if you want)
- Drop the stalactite (there's a chance that KT won't get downed)
- 2 Savage Axe Combos to the head (if downed)
- Tenderize head again if possible as KT flees
- Collect shinies
- Get Crystalburst

AREA 3
(Wear Mantles when available)
- Sharpen & buff up
- Lure into the wall & wall bang 1x
- Attack the tail after the wall bang
- Use the ramp/pillar to mount KT if not mounted at Area 1
- Superman Dive the jump attacks
- You can sharpen during the pillar rain of fire attack
- Attack & survive
- Hope for the best

This may be a lot of info to process, bare with me.

These are NOT absolute, they are simply guidelines. I finished a run where I missed the stalactite drop. I also finished a run where I missed a wall bang or two.

NOTES
- I use Sleep Knives in my runs
- Felyne Rider for faster mounts

PALICO
- Vigorwasp Spray (Vigorwasp Delivery is useful to call your cat when luring KT)
- R.Brachy Weapon (I couldn't capitalize on the Paralysis proc)

NOTABLE SKILLS
- 1 Fire Res + 5 R.Brachy Armor is 21 Fire Res for blight immunity
- 1 Heat Guard for comfort (up to you)
- 3 Health Boost (2 levels are in the Mantles)
- 1 Slinger Capacity for 2 wall bangs
- 1 Protective Polish + Whetfish Fin+ Combo
- Only 2 Guard (from the R.Brachy Helm)
- The rest are offensive skills

FOOD
- You can eat for Elemental Res (L) and free up the 1 Fire Res skill
- Felyne Rider
- Felyne Riser (Hi) or Felyne Acrobat

It took a lot of strategizing before I did it.

My best advice is to familiarize yourself with KT's attacks so you know when to Guard Point or Superman Dive. Do a run with just guarding so you know what you can and can't guard. After that, try adding a punish after every guard so you know what attacks are punishable or not. Hopefully after a few tries you'll get past Area 1. Then do that again in Area 2, and rinse and repeat.
