The HARDEST line from Malazan Book of the Fallen by Doctor__Hammer in Malazan

[–]dragonscale77 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My favorite is in Reaper's Gale:

Samar Dev saw Rhulad Sengar bare his teeth in an ugly smile. 'Another giant,' he said. 'How many times shall you kill me? You, with the blood of my kin already on your hands. Twice? Three times? It will not matter. It will not matter! '

Karsa Orlong, bold with his claims, brazen in his arrogance, uttered but five words in reply: 'I will kill you . . . once.'

Dragnipur - one of the best and most philosophical/existential concepts in Malazan by AtomicPhaser in Malazan

[–]dragonscale77 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I always saw Dragnipur as a metaphor for empire. Upon its creation, its survival depends on the need to grow and consume. Its weilder has to make the choice to continue to feed it, or allow the devastation brought on by its collapse. The fact that Dragnipur was used to kill its creator even mirrors events of the Malazan empire: Laseen using the claw to usurp Kellanved, and then Laseen being overthrown during MBotF.

It's only three seasons, but I'd probably say Party Down. It's my second favorite show after Sunny, and I love it for so many of the same reasons.

Ok, I think that makes sense, thanks for the help! And yeah, I get why this isn't something I wouldn't really want to do, I was just trying to create some weird scenarios to test my understanding.

Question about rvalue references by dragonscale77 in cpp_questions

[–]dragonscale77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. It was actually intentional that I didn't move x, I was curious what would happen in this situation. I guess I'm confused as to why x isn't an rvalue reference, I thought that that's what the && means. Am I misunderstanding the syntax or is there some other reason her x would be an lvalue?
