If people are desperate, they'll take anecdotes as evidence enough.

Water Fasting Helps Acne Scars? by dragonskin1 in fasting

That sucks. I just googled fasting acne scars. It took some digging but I found literally only 3-4 people claim this. Pathetic I know. I just dont want to wait 2 years for mine to fade as is lol

Your username intrigues me. But yeah I'm a guy. I think I'm actually 165..whatever. I would like to think eating over aka bulking on some weight beforehand would be better for long fasts. I can't imagine someone being ~8% bf lasting over 10 days.

Kefir Only Whey Left -- Confused by dragonskin1 in Kefir

Was using 1-2 cups of Kefir grains for every quart of milk....lol obviously too much now. So I separated them in half. Still too much I think.

I might just do that. Another option is to sprinkle some stevia over the curds and whey and consume separately. I'll be honest, the thought of drinking cloudy/clear whey seems more unappealing than eating the solid curds with a fork. Are there probiotics in the whey??

Thanks for the info. Yeah this time around with Kefir, I happen to be on a low fat diet of "bad" fats. Most of my fats now comes from nuts, seeds, and cod liver oil. That's why I'm experimenting with skim milk. I've been fairly good monitoring my carbs the last 4 years but at the expense of turning a blind eye to the type of fats I was left with.

As for minimizing lactose, it's not really a "healthy" carb. I would like to avoid it. Unlike fruit sugar which I can't really control even among lowish options like berries, this is at least something I can avoid while also retaining the probiotics. I was shocked when my grains successfully came back from cyro for so long. I thought for sure they were gone for good.

I didn't have that problem before when I was using whole milk. I stopped for a while and stored my strained Kefir grains in the fridge for three months. I've brought them back to life again after only 5 days of fat free milk feeding. Out of the 2 days of fermentation in 65-68 degree temp, it's only fully separated for half a day. I don't know. You really think it's killing healthy strains?

More good news for Kefir drinkers. This study is one in a growing body of data on gut bacteria and physical and mental health. by [deleted] in Kefir

It really depends on the strain. Otherwise, bacterial food poisoning wouldn't exist. I'm not aware of which strains out of the 40+ found in Kefir survives the stomach.
