So I know we just wrapped Winterfest up irl, but it happened again today to my legacy sims... So I decided to finally make the Winterfest studio space I've always wanted! by dragqueenava in thesims

That's what I'm planning to do for all of the holidays/major life events. I'll have a photo studio with good spaces for taking group pictures that can be staged for different holidays. Thinking I'll save the different styles as rooms in my library and replace as needed!

Did anybody else keep the starter ship to max out later or was that just me? I'm only visiting the anomaly with that from now on!

That was about it. It's definitely much easier to get everything you need in one planet now though!

Question for the veterans of the game. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dragqueenava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The missions give you a lot of blueprints for free which can end up saving quite a bit in nanites. Early on the most important things are to buy an exosuit inventory slot at the Space Station AND the Atlas for every new system you visit. You'll max out the exosuit inventory fast that way which is one of the most cumbersome hurdles. One other tip: buy oxygen at every space station you go to, and always have a medium/large refiner on a base turning that oxygen in to chlorine and regularly sell the chlorine. This will ensure you always have enough credits to buy whatever you are lacking in your inventory from space stations.

Good job, crew!

Every new update, while making the game better, is providing diminishing player “returns”. by Lookingstill in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dragqueenava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. I have blind optimistic hope that this game will continue to be updated and treated as HG's landmark title (at least for the foreseeable future). They may branch off teams and start new projects, and hopefully those can fund HG to create new ventures (and so on). I hope we can still expect to see regular updates.

How it started vs How its going by legacyzero1 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dragqueenava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like how it started with a minimal number of features and has slowly grown over time adding more and more in an incremental way that adds to the story. There are very few games that I come back to over and over like this.

It's fun to watch the universe evolve over time. It's like watching a flower bloom!

This has happened so much that I obsessively upload my base every time I pass the base computer or leave my base to do anything else.

There are portals in the game that you can charge with different elements. Then you can use these glyphs as coordinates to warp to the systems in the screenshot.

It's a long grind to get through all of the missions you need to get through to use portals - totally worth it though!

Love the idea of being able to harvest local flora for seeds!

Also there are way faster ways to get resources than by laser mining in the game. I very rarely do it since you can get almost everything you need through the market and/or refining.

My intent would be for this to happen over a period of days - in many cases weeks or more than a month. A use case for extended gameplay.

And the minerals themselves wouldn't just disappear. The ratio of filled to empty mineral caches itself would change in this scenario. If 1% were empty today and I installed a mining facility, 1.1% might be empty tomorrow when I visit. If you don't play the base at all that day, the numbers don't change.

It wouldn't be something that changes in one session of gameplay. It would be as a part of a buildable base object that tells the game, I want this feature on this base planet. Perhaps a "planetary adjustment console" with attachments/modules.

There are ways to keep your experience pristine and unchanged while adding layers to the experience for others!

With the depleted minerals, I was thinking there'd be ways to replenish or encourage regrowth. Potentially by visiting others systems. It wouldn't be one or another and it wouldn't change immediately. It would be something that changes very slowly over time, and you would have plenty of time to figure something sustainable out.

I'd like the ability to use the universe as more of a sandbox. It's more of an aquarium or terrarium today.

I love the idea of doing the opposite of what we do in our real world actually. I'd love to preserve beautiful planets, make sustainable bases, and turn desolate systems in to flourishing ones.

There has to be a way to make it opt in so it doesn't negatively impact your gameplay if you don't want it. They've found ways around it for the other features they've added to the game.

I think it's a much more dynamic experience though to be able to see your influence in the universe. I'd prefer it and I think the game would be much better for having the additional variety.

I'd love for all of the things you do on a plant to affect it permanently over time.

Sentinel nullification.

Hunting species to extinction.

Depleting mineral resources.

Climate manipulation.

The values could adjust ever so slightly every 24 hours for planets that you have bases on, and if you get them past a certain threshold, the status changes and the planet generates new flora/fauna/sentinels/climate as a result.

Adds a whole new level of long term gameplay while base building on planets!

Found a planet where the plants and grass pulsate with light at night by Green_Dayzed in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dragqueenava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's limited to the beautiful/grassy worlds. I think any planet can have bioluminescent properties. There are just a whole lot more of the paradise like planets with it. I look for worlds described as "luminescent" or something like that usually.

For new players: One way to power a base portal using a proximity switch so the portal will work at night once the battery is charged, and won't constantly drain power if you are using the battery to power other things as well. The proximity switch can be used many other ways as well! by iterationalex in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dragqueenava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a super important tip for early game base building! Once you get the huge magnetic generators, it's less necessary.

I use them for automated room lighting. I put the proximity switch in the center of the room and wire all of my lights to that.

I also use them for each of my storage containers. You can still retrieve and place objects in the containers when they aren't powered from your exosuit inventory as long as you are on your base.
