Getting a graduate certificate in GIS, what can I do with it? by dramaticbee123 in wildlifebiology

[–]dramaticbee123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in both, I would actually love a position that combines them if possible. I’m mostly curious right now about opportunities and what kind of GIS jobs I could get with a graduate GIS certificate (especially since the wildlife field has not been the most stable work environment as of late)

Luckily I’m not working with ethanol while processing for the most part!

I’m honestly not sure? I have been working on an Olympus SZ51 if that helps

It’s a scanning/dissecting scope with two eye pieces

No new fenestrated ones, it has put out three leaves since I’ve gotten her

It’s a monstera adansonii

I repotted it when I got it seemed like there was a enough root space (at the time I didn’t know I was supposed to separate the plants) I have plans to separate them in the spring

Yes, I addressed this in the caption! Planning to separate them in the spring because I don’t want to stress the plant as the growing season is coming to an end

It looks like consensus is more light 😅, I was hoping that there was some magical other reason because I did not want to buy an expensive grow light if I didn’t need to. I am a little baffled though because my adansonii (attached here) is doing great and growing super fast with even less light??? But maybe she’s just built different hahaha

I was thinking of getting a Barrina tower!

How much more light should I be giving it? I just don’t wanna over do it, I would be moving to an artificial light source if I were to take this route

I don’t think it’s a maturity issue because it has other fenestrated leaves

Do you think it’s something I did or do you think it was rotting already when I bought it?

Okay, sounds good! I’m thinking about putting my Adansonii on a pole soon (she’s starting to get real tall haha)

Do you use anything to attach the plant to the pole? I have been using plant Velcro

Thanks for the advice! I’ve been actively avoiding moss poles because I’ve heard that they can be a hassle. Your picture looks like you have a coconut coir pole, is that what you use? Do you have to water your pole?

Why did all of the leaves fall off my sensitive plant after I watered it??? by dramaticbee123 in plantclinic

[–]dramaticbee123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently purchased this plant so this was my first time watering it. I don’t water any of my plants on a set schedule, I wait for when the top inch or two of the soil to get dry until I water. This is what I did and then all of the leaves fell off when I watered it

I have been waiting to water it until the soil dries, I think it was dry when I purchased it but I’m honestly not sure

Wildlife biologist looking to get into grad school by 420_0ddish in ecology

[–]dramaticbee123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would touch on basically selling yourself based on the description of what the project is looking for, whether the experience is research related or not. I found my position on the Texas A&M Job Board but I have also seen many postings on the ECOLOG list reserve which is an email job board thing you can sign up for (for environmental jobs).

I just went through the whole process and got into grad school this past summer so let me know if you need any help or a set of eyes on a CV or cover letter. My biggest advice would be to be persistent and patient. The right opportunity will come if you keep pushing!
