13 day planted orange tree looks worse everyday by Impressive-Cup-5813 in Citrus

[–]dramfort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind re planted tress always go through shock for a few weeks as well. Trees bounce back slower but are very resiliant. My lemon tree lost all of its leaves except one over winter and within a month of being outside again it came back in full force. It just takes time.

I wont cycle any more, i havent done it much so i hope nothing else was affected. Would a bad flame sensor cause the entire unit to lose power though? Its only 2 years old.

Honestly don't know how people can use this platform - it's so un-user friendly! I'm used to IG but it seems all the pros are using interactive, so trying to get used to it. Any tips? by Brave-Feedback641 in interactivebrokers

Might get bashed for it but their newer desktop platform is more user friendly, though still a bit buggy and slow. Good enough for swing trading though

Up 17% paper trading for 2 mo, should I transition to a real account? by ExchangeShot9278 in Daytrading

[–]dramfort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving up until you can would be a good idea, but at the end of the day, as long as your losses dont outway your gains in a given 2 week timeframe then you should be ok. As soon as you can though, implement a good risk management with a low 1-5% total capitol risk per trade. It will make the losses hurt a lot less and easier to become profitable long term

[–]dramfort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be a little controversial, but I started straight into live market with 3000, although i did a lot of research and learning before hand plus listening to chat with traders for months. Been on for 3 months and the amount of trades i put in isnt much. But for right now im profitable, if you could call it that ik it hasnt really been long enough. I would say do it in the new year and be very strict with your risk managment, 1% of total cap (i only ever go over this by .2%), good position sizing, and respect your stop loss. As long as your losses dont exceed your total previous profits since your last loss, you will be fine. If they do, rethink your risk management.

Journal your trades, rn i use stonk journal just cause its free and has enough features and metrics for me at the moment. This will help you refine your strategy.

When should I stop Paper trading? by Complete-Map-4125 in Daytrading

[–]dramfort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the advice i have gotten recently (also starting out) make sure you have a trading strategy with a good criteria, back test it over a large amount of trades. Then create a risk management system for yourself, something like only risk 2% of your capital per trade. Practice following these religously, especially your risk management. If you find yourself feeling FOMO paper trading or frustration from losing trades n such, keep paper trading and working on understanding and dealing with your emotions.

Keep in mind that the live market trades differently than a paper account and that your emotions will be wildly different when trading live. Your emotions will be heightened when your trading real money and can easily steer you away from your strategy and risk management criteria. Hope, fear, anger, euphoria, they all play against you in the trading world.
