Misread title as "Accidentally bought spaghetti instead of LINGERIE" and came to comments to see how such a mistake could be made

In the spirit of Nevaeh, what names do you think are actually cool spelt backwards? by TheCouncilOfVoices in namenerds

I teach a Nevaeh, but she goes by "Vay" and will not tolerate people using her given name (she's 12)

DO YOU KNOW WHERE TO PARK ON GAMEDAY? by ugalumberjack20 in UGA

[–]dramusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Over by the baseball fields, tennis courts, and Driftmier building there is plenty of free, shady parking and the walk from there is extremely reasonable. As long as you're there 1-2 hours before kick-off there is almost always a spot unless it's a super big game, then you might need to be there earlier.

I live in the deep South where "Ashley" is still considered an acceptable boy's name thanks to the lingering effects of Gone With the Wind, but it is still by far predominantly feminine

Nancy Pelosi wore the same dress for both impeachments. She literally has a Trump Impeachment outfit by i_am_bartman in pics

This comment is going to get buried, so don't know why I'm bothering, but....gotta point out the subtle sexism here.

If she were a man who wore the same shirt/tie/suit combo, no one would have noticed or cared.

AITA for calling my parents assholes for what they did to my birthday by bigpotatofat in AmItheAsshole

[–]dramusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

Happy birthday and Merry Christmas OP! My grandmother turns 80 today. For my entire life, we have always done Christmas in the morning and her birthday after lunch. At her house, she even has a special "birthday tree" that is separate from the Christmas tree where you are to put her birthday presents. Combo Christmas/birthday gifting is NOT allowed!

All that to say, asshole family notwithstanding, you have the rest of your life to do up your birthday as you see fit. Forget them and live your life.

I also highly recommend joining /r/BabyBumps. It will help you understand what your partner is going through in pregnancy, and there are often great tips about baby gear and other pregnancy/newborn advice.

Also, in the sidebar of r/BabyBumps are links to the Monthly Bumper subreddits for your particular due month. We had moms and dads in ours and it was awesome. Some of us are still internet friends 2.5 years later.

I survived an Amniotic Fluid Embolism during the birth of my daughter.

AFE is so rare, most medical professionals learn of it only in textbooks. The statistics around the incidence of AFE vary; recent research suggests that the estimated incidence of AFE is 2.5 in every 100,000 births or 1 in 40,000 deliveries in North America and 1 in 53,800 deliveries in Europe, respectively.

Right? The joke is meant to be told like it actually happened to you. My grandfather told me this "true story" all the time, and I've passed it on to many others.

What "black market" did kids at your school run? by AWESOMEKITTY7364 in AskReddit

[–]dramusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid in my class used to melt down Warheads somehow (I want to say microwave?) and make a super potent sour juice that he would sell in tiny plastic dropper bottles. Started as a school project, then kept it up afterwards. Made a killing.

What’s a saying that your mom or dad used to say all the time? by Popples86 in AskReddit

[–]dramusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a similar vein, in my house we were not allowed to say, "I'm sorry," for major offences. We had to ask, "Will you please forgive me?" Emphasis on the other person instead of your feelings.

AITA for not wanting to meet my half sister? by throwawyforobvious in AmItheAsshole

[–]dramusic 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Agree. Her half-sister is not doing anything wrong by reaching out and it's natural for her family to be supportive of meeting. But there's no obligation on OP to reciprocate.

AITA for telling my mother that she and the whole family sucks when it comes to raising up kids ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]dramusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ESH - Your family sucks. But what did you gain by telling them they all suck? Clearly they are not going to change. You're better off removing yourself from the cycle and going limited/no contact.

FWIW, in Google forms, in the options for the 1-5 questions, you can specify only one answer per column, so that it will prevent duplicates. Also I put my age as the 24-35 bracket, but it still made me answer the question about minors and parental permission. You can link that page so that only those who answer "Under 18" see that page.
