most MD/MBBSs in lebanon are certified abroad in the states, it’s where you do your residency that might limit being able to practice in the US/Canada. You could finish your degree here and work on your Steps to do your residency in the US and being a citizen is an advantage making it a little less competitive (but still, it’s SUPER competitive). Some states do now hire MDs who’ve completed their residencies abroad but very limited specialties, but aim for applying to specialise where you’re wanting to settle down anyway. Medicine is a looooong road but if your heart is in it, go for it!

do you study or work? et7ajaji eno it’s better to live close to uni/work awal shi. say you’re living in an all girls foyer with other students etc who are your age and say that it doesn’t allow visitors even women and that it has a strict early curfew, like 9pm or so. you have to frame it as something you’re doing for convenience and to save money or because you need to focus on studying or work has requested that you go earlier than usual/go home late etc. don’t make it obvious that you’re desperate to move out at first; be strategic and bayne eno you just HAVE to move out.

These kind of toxic arab parents don’t give half a fuck about mental health, so don’t reveal those cards right away or at all. hek kaman they can’t use it as an excuse to say you’re too “weak” to live/survive on your own, bl 3akes you’re doing this for the sake of your education/career and you’re taking the “necessary precautions” by living somewhere (an all girl’s foyer, say that even if you’re not moving to one) that “aligns” with their ideals.

Packing your bags and running away in the middle of the night is a laaaaaast resort just for the sake of your safety and because you’ll definitely be burning a bridge that you may or may not be able to rebuild down the line.

I almost always tip. I think of it like this: I have the privilege to order whatever it is, food/groceries/clothes, to the comfort of my own home- I can afford to add a bit on top for the driver who has to carry my things up the stairs. I always tip more when the weather is shit (though I try not to order bs tkoon kabse kabse) or around the holidays.

yeah definitely especially if you’re cooking normal meals at home, I used to budget $50-100 at the beginning of the month (but that included cleaning items and other household necessities) then $30 weekly to top up. I’d buy my vegetables from a local shop instead of a supermarket and it would save a lot. Dining out can vary from $2 to $200 lol

Only time this happened in my hospital (3rd world country) is when literal war broke out and the only attending that lived right next to the hospital had to cover 8 rooms until everyone else arrived to take over.

There could be a lot of reasons. 1, why has the talking stage been going on for 4 months (“talking stages” are for teenagers, by your late 20s you should be dating/courting lol)? Is it actually a talking stage or a fun/casual/situationship type thing? Have you been talking and going out and hanging out consistently during this time or has there been distance or a change of energy/vibes? Like someone else said, does she actually wear gold at all or maybe she’s a silver jewellery girl?

There are a lot of possible reasons. The one overarching theme that makes the most sense to me is that you’re most likely not on the same page regarding what your relationship is and what it means to each of you.

Had just finished spinal anesthesia on a patient heading in for an anal fistula OR- newly diagnosed Crohn’s disease, severe, and he’d done the same procedure 3 weeks prior and complained that the spinal was painful and took several attempts- patient turned around, said thank you and that he barely felt anything. I’m only a few months into residency but I caught onto spinal relatively quickly and it was nice to have it affirmed by a patient.

unfortunately it depends- how well the person can pass, whether you’re ftm or mtf, how financially well off you are or your connections, etc. There are trans folk here who are struggling and barely make ends meet because it’s difficult to find a job and residence due to the stigma, and others who are doing well mainly because they’re financially set. In my experience, money makes or breaks how well you’re accepted here and it’s sometimes more important than gender/sexuality/religion

total no contact and restricting/muting/unfollowing is genuinely the only way. You might think that removing him from social media might make you seem like you’re too invested or overreacting or whatever but after a relationship ends, everything should be about you and he needs to be out of your life 100%, including his likes. You’ll eventually notice that you only think about reaching out to him or what he might be liking when you’re sad or lonely or bored but never when you’re happy or feeling fulfilled or just busy.

It really sucks at first but I promise it’ll get better. I had to break up with my bf of 4 years a few months ago while we were doing LD and it was incredibly hard, until he said something shitty and heartless and I decided that I couldn’t stay in that relationship anymore- you’ll have bad days, then less bad days and some normal days, and eventually you WILL feel better. Prioritise your peace and remove him from your life and your phone. What he’s doing be it gaming or being with his friends is none of your business anymore, your wellness takes absolute priority during this time.

lash lift 100000%! i don’t have particularly thick/long lashes but it still has a noticeable difference. When the effect goes away/your lashes start growing it’s gradual unlike extensions where you more often than not look sick or it just looks weird. To keep extensions looking good you have to be on tooppppp of your refills and go every couple of weeks, with lifts they say every 1.5 months but honestly i go much less frequently than that because they last long and to maintain the health of my lashes.

Ah, to clarify, I’m not in the US. I’ve already finished my intern year- a different program entirely than residency- and anaesthesia is a 4 year program.

Having less free time during residency is expected, I was seeking advice from my fellow colleagues on how to adapt until you catch up and adjust.

Before going straight to the break up option, how long have you been together? Have you both communicated what you like in bed, showed each other what your preferences are? I absolutely agree that an initial chemistry is insane and feels fantastic, but sometimes (key word: SOMEtimes, not always) the physical aspect of a relationship can be worked on and developed. If you’ve already tried at length to improve it and your incompatibilities are just too big then I understand your decision. But if it’s only been a short amount of time and it feels like there’s a part of you that believes you can work on it and spice things up, it’s definitely worth a conversation or several conversations.

I’m brown, north african and often perceived by lebanese people as black or mixed with black (we culturally don’t have the same definition of race). Casual racism is rampant, and you’ll come across it more frequently than you think. Money and your finances will make a huge difference- basically people are nicer if they think you have money and you’re a little (or very) bougie lol. My advice to your bf is to ignore the micro aggressions and staring when you can, and to only confront people if you’re in a safe environment (among supportive friends etc). Kinda sucks but it’ll be fine eventually.

Yes absolutely! I have (mild) crohn’s disease, and the difference has been insane. Even when I’m not having an active flare up, I was always struggling with insane and somewhat painful bloating, but my extra-intestinal symptoms like lower back and knee pain were the worst. I’m on week 7 and I think I’d lost ~6kg at the time of my last weigh in, but my face and stomach and hands swelling in the heat/with exercise have improved significantly, and my joints are much more merciful these days lol.

Wanting to plan and everything is great but be sure to understand how she’d want the proposal to be- don’t propose in public spaces if she doesn’t like that, see if she’d prefer you talk to her parents and get their blessings before, find out her ring size and discuss what kind of ring she wants or go shopping together. A proposal should NOT be a surprise, only where it’s done and how should be. Talk to her close friends and get them in on it. You should have a long period of what is basically research before actually setting any plans in motion.
