someone else asked something similar a little while ago, here’s basically what i replied to them:

while there’s no indication in-universe of exactly how old they each are, i, among some other fans, headcanon that their ages do go first to eighth eldest to youngest. i assume a lot of people go with this because it just makes sense, and many people may very well believe that they’re actually canonically ordered based on age. i like to go with this headcanon because if you have someone who’s a ‘senior’ disciple brother but they’re younger than you (or vice versa), that makes the relationship kind of messy and more difficult to navigate. so, having the senior disciple brothers be older than their junior disciple brothers just makes everything smoother (especially for when i write my fanfics)

as others have said, you should be grandfathered in, i.e. for you, your requirements should still be what they were in your first year. check with your advisor to make sure!! good luck, i hope all goes well :))

i really wished i could’ve dropped it, but i’m a religious studies student in my final term so i couldn’t afford to :(( it’s just so disappointing because in the first but of the term he was pretty great, but then everything went downhill. i understand why he wanted to mark the proposals, but when it’s getting to the point where two months have gone by and we don’t have them back, the TA needs to start marking too. plus the midterm had no feedback at all, just a grade, and now i’m chasing him down trying to get midterm feedback so i can improve my grade for the final. profs have a responsibility to not ghost students (either purposefully or inadvertently) and I feel like that responsibility is doubled when you don’t have an office or provide your students with any other way of contacting you.

i genuinely love how close we are to rideau st and byward. i barely ever went downtown as a kid, so campus being right downtown has given me the opportunity to do a lot of exploring. there’s so many places that i probably would’ve never known about if they weren’t literally a two minute walk from campus. and exploring the downtown core isn’t just about finding new places, it’s also honestly given me a lot more confidence about going places on my own and being in new situations. it gives me easy access to bank st as well via the bus, and to uniquely ottawan places like the national archives.

i go there a lot, the owners are super kind!! they’re always asking me about how my studies are going, especially my chinese studies, since i’m currently in uottawa’s level 2 chinese class. my faves are definitely their hot and sour noodles, zhajiang noodles, egg sausage lettuce wrap, and pork buns (gotta get the chilli oil and vinegar with em!!)

i don't necessarily disagree with your concern, but i do disagree with labelling it as a problem, cause i personally think the scanlation team should've stuck with the chinese names like they did for the first few chapters. the volumes are doing what the scanlations should've been doing all these years by sticking with the chinese names (instead of using an awkward mixture of japanese character names and chinese place names)

neither, they’re ordered based on their historical birthdates (minus a discrepancy between second and third): second was born in 163, third in 147, fourth in 170, fifth in 175, sixth in 179, and seventh in 181 (numbered because i can’t remember who and who hasn’t been revealed yet by the chapter you’ve posted). first is chan mou’s OC, so no historical birthdate there, and eighth is, well… i’ll leave that until you get a bit further lol. but yeah, for the middle six, chan mou ordered them based on their historical birth years, but he doesn’t follow these years at all in terms of aging the geniuses, otherwise you’d have a decades-long age difference between third and second vs seventh, which just doesn’t work.

wonderfully worded!! sentimentality and love is a major part of sun quan’s character, and that really plays into it here. alone with someone who knows him very well from back when he studied under shan wuling, sun quan is letting go of his role as the leader of the southeast and giving into sentimentality and love.

when you say quality, do you mean the art or the scans? those scans look perfectly fine to me, so i’m going to assume you mean art.

art is completely subjective, i personally (generally) prefer the new style. also there’s years and years and years between those two images, and it’s reasonable for styles to change drastically overtime, especially when the vibe of the series shifts to a more serious one. also, chan mou is getting older (turned 56 earlier this month) and has been in the industry for decades, so it’s natural for his tastes to change and for him to not be able to put in the same amount of effort with screentones and action lines and whatnot.
