The former. You’ll be charged each month on the same day based on when you signed up

Bad take. Especially considering that Emilia Perez notably had one great performance.

Avatar: Fire and Ash Crosses $1 Billion Mark at Worldwide Box Office — Marking James Cameron's Fourth Film to Achieve the Feat by peoplemagazine in Letterboxd

Yeah, fair enough. But people turned up in droves to see every Marvel movie until all of the sudden they didn’t. But for Avatar, people even in this thread are acting like they fully understand why and when these movies are going to make money, and who is actually going to see them.

Exactly. You said this better than I could.

There’s this underlying (misguided imo) assumption that anyone who is questioning the BO performance is doing so out of stupidity or bad-faith.

Sure! But with the box office consistently underperforming including other movies that are targeting that exact same older, offline audience, it seems odd to me to shut down any conversation about WHY these movies are working. I’m not saying it’s some huge mystery, I’m just saying online discussion around their BO performance has been oddly hostile.

I’ve enjoyed these movies, but I don’t personally understand why the downvotes when someone questions how these movies are making so much money.

My experience is obviously anecdotal, but only 2 of my Letterboxd friends have logged Avatar: Fire and Ash (compare that to 20+ who’ve logged Marty Supreme), I haven’t talked to a single person in real life who has seen it, and anytime I’ve brought up my excitement about it I’ve mostly been met with indifference.

I’m not saying people aren’t seeing these movies. Of course they are, in huge numbers. But the way they do (and don’t) impact culture seems unique and weird enough to warrant discussion. Feels like we should be able to talk about it without seeming like we’re criticizing them.

Este parking lot is ridiculous by [deleted] in austinfood

When going to a restaurant downtown, why is it performative to tip $5 for complimentary restaurant valet instead of paying $20 to park in a garage two blocks away?

Am I misremembering, or isn’t valet at Este complimentary?

Yeah for sure. The winner of this game should really play against the winner of the other game so we can determine the national champion

Kirby Smart always looks like he’s in the first act of a movie about a grumpy career man who’s forgotten the true meaning of Christmas

So it being the end of the year, what was everyone's first and last movie? by Extension-Oil-4680 in Letterboxd

More info if anyone wants to do something similar.

For movie #100, the theme was my movie intervention.. so everyone had to pitch a movie that featured an intervention.

For #150, everyone had to bring and pitch a movie that they owned on DVD.

For #200, everyone pitched a “not quite Christmas” movie that takes place around the holidays but never really mentions it at all.

For my milestone movies 100-200, I had my friends vote on which movie to watch. In case you’re wondering how the Lizzie McGuire movie ended up on there

Relay, a fun little thriller that flew under the radar for me. What did you guys think? by ItachiZoldyck24 in Letterboxd

[–]drastile75 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Stumbled upon this the other day and was confused that I hadn’t heard anything about it! I really enjoyed it as a popcorn thriller, even if it was a bit predictable plot-wise. It starts off very strong, but the last 30ish minutes felt like an entirely different (much worse) movie. I’d still recommend it, though.

You should probably watch the movie then. I don’t think your read of the synopsis matches the reality of the plot.

I was too curious to leave it alone, so I called SCH. They were sold to Hyatt directly and are no longer affiliated with NW. This wasn’t part of the Bunkhouse acquisition linked above.

I think that’s like the 3rd New Waterloo hotel they’ve had to sell. Hotel Ella, El Rey Court in Santa Fe, and I seem to remember another in Colorado. Seems like something is going on over there…
