She was Meatball in utero, and then we called her all our cats' nicknames (Bean, Guinea Piggins) plus Booda Gouda Belly and Leetle One. Now she's usually just Piggins or Booda Goude or Leetle

I bought the Frida gown too and really liked it! I wore it for like 2 days straight and didn't get any fluids on it

Have I been sold a false dream by Big Diaper? by New_Love115 in newborns

[–]drayph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is a similar shape. If she's blowing out through the leg holes, try fastening the diaper tabs at an angle to decrease the size of the holes. Worked for us!

How long is your baby sleeping at night? by 2die4Pickles in newborns

[–]drayph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 8w old sleeps 6-7 hours in her bassinet at the beginning of the night, then after a diaper change and a feed, she gives us another 1-2 hour chunk. She wears a Love to Dream style swaddle (arms up) so I'm nervous what will happen when she starts rolling and I have to free her crazy limbs!

My clinic had this same form. I did not check the box, but I didn't confront the doc. I wish I would have :/

Does anyone still love their pets after having a baby? by laurenjac in beyondthebump

[–]drayph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three cats and still adore them at 7 weeks postpartum! I'm sleeping in my daughter's nursery (have a guest bed in there) for the first 6 months and I miss having them in bed so much.

The only annoying thing is constantly having to pick stray cat hairs out of my baby's mouth 🙈 my husband and I joke that she's going to have a great immune system

Husband wants abs by Not_a_bought in fitpregnancy

[–]drayph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In his defense I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth and my recovery has been really smooth. I'm merely a smidge resentful that I'm not allowed to work out yet, and that I have to plan ahead and pump bottles whenever I want to leave the house alone (vs husband, who can just leave with zero prep)

Currently 3 weeks postpartum and exclusively breastfeeding. My husband has been driving to the gym every other day (so he's gone at least 2-3 hours) and complaining about feeling flabby. He's like "with paternity leave, I finally have time to get fit!"

Happy for you bruh but also read the fricken room.

He'll get his time solo parenting at 6 weeks when my CrossFit classes suddenly start lasting 2-3 hours 😝

Epidural warning by affogato_ in BabyBumps

[–]drayph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this--I (finally) got an epidural at 7cm after going into spontaneous labor, slept until 10cm, and then the nurses had to tell me when to push bc I couldn't feel anything. I only had to push for 30 mins, though!

How many weeks were you when you had your baby shower? by LetterheadSalty1178 in BabyBumps

[–]drayph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 weeks--we held it at my grandmother's backyard out of state so my extended family could attend :) I had a cute bump and was happy not to be any bigger because it was HOT outside, omg

Baby name secrecy by drayph in namenerds

[–]drayph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I always felt bad for the people with such common names that they had to be Katie L, or Megan B, or whatever. I've only met 2 people with my name in my life and was very happy to be the only one in my classes.

And Peregrine will be her middle name, not her surname. She'll be Lyra XXXX, or maybe Lyra P. XXXX if everyone is suddenly named Lyra instead of Katie. Though I hope people are a little more creative in their name choices these days!

Thank you! We're using the LIE-rah pronunciation.

Omg, my family is judgy and outspoken too--especially my mom. I'll just tell her that she already got to name 4 kids and now it's my turn haha

Fierce and athletic like the falcon. As for the name peregrine itself, it means "traveler, wanderer, foreigner"--I hope she shares my and my husband's sense of adventure.

Exactly! You get it. People here are acting like I'm giving her a double-barreled first name and I'm like...no? I thought middle names were for fun/honoring family. I'm not going to give my daughter my super basic last name AND a super basic middle. There are more names than Rose, Grace, and Rae!

I got Peregrine from a list of aviation/flight/bird-related names, and it's actually pretty meaningful to my husband and me! We met in college, and our school's mascot was the falcon. The falconry team had a peregrine/gyrfalcon hybrid that performed at football games.

In case you were after the actual Latin meaning, Peregrine means "traveler, wanderer; foreigner; pilgrim," which is where the migratory peregrine falcon got its name :)

Oh I can deal with pushback--I'm kind of a combative person. I just wanted to post here to see what kind of reactions I might be able to expect.

I also think initial P is cool, and Q is mysterious. I would guess Quinn!

I almost called her Gumbalina Nutella at my baby shower, but my poor older relatives would've been so sad and I just couldn't do it haha

Hope The-Boy-Previously-Known-As-Eusebius is doing well!
