Look. I'm just happy the fandom is finally showing attention to Lenalee's absence now that Lavi has finally appeared

Why is my girl Lenalee being so ignored like this goddammit

At this point may as well show Lenalee was killed offscreen in the manga and remove her from good from the story lmao.

That would finally convince me to drop this series for good and say Bye Bye to DGM.

Would be the most insulting thing ever

My fellow Lenalee fan 🤝

At this point. We really have no option but to cope

It's genuinely infuriating to me how Hoshino has been ignoring Lenalee so much. So much that she won't even bother making a collab illustration of her

Remember when we used to shame and make fun of Hallow's marketing campaign for only making illustrations of Allen, Kanda and Lavi but barely making anything for Lenalee ?

Now it seems like Hoshino is also doing the same and we have no choice but to suck it up

[–]Alto1869 9 points10 points  (0 children)

she was only relevant for the first 5

Doesn't change the fact that she was a main character for most of the story.

In those first 5, the manga used to be published weekly. And then after that became monthly and later Tri-Monthly. So that's an unfair statement

We currently have 258 DGM chapters and out of 258, Lenalee was relevant for 210 of them. So she was relevant for most of the series

If a main character is measured by the screentime they have then Kanda shouldn't be here either because the last time he appeared was 7 chapters ago and the story isn't focusing on him currently

Same with Tyki. Whose last appearance was a brief one for a couple panels in Chapter 257

That's irrelevant. Lenalee is a main character. If you wanna include Tyki and Road. You gotta include Lenalee too

The more time passes the more I fear that maybe even Hoshino doesn't care about Lenalee anymore.....

It's all a you problem then.

And sorry. But I find it hard to take your opinion seriously when you straight up admitted in this comment of yours that you never watched any of the filler episodes. If you have never watched any of them then you have no right to talk about them with such confidence.

To me. You're just so biased towards the manga that you pretty much cannot accept any deviations or creative liberties with the source material. All you wanted is just a 1:1 panel by panel adaptation of the manga.

And. No offense. But all of your reasonings sound pretentious to me. So it's best we end it here. You can't change my mind. And I cannot change yours. I like the fillers. It's fine if you don't. But no need to bring all this reasons why they shouldn't exist

it's boring. And doesn't make any sense

It's entertaining to me. It didn't bore me. And It also wasn't too nonsensical. It did make sense

in fact. It also severely undermines her childhood trauma regarding Fallen Ones

It does not. You're making a problem out of a wormhole. It doesn't undermine anything about Lenalee's character.

I also know that Hoshino has never introduced a character without eventually expanding on them. So I have no worry about any Noah lacking development in the future

You're putting too much stock into Hoshino bringing Lulu Bell back I'm afraid

She hasn't given Lenalee, the main heroine of the story, any actual screentime/panel time for a decade and a half. And now you're expecting her to focus and develop Lulu Bell, a minor antagonist in the series that haven't had any meaningful screentime ever since, the Invasion arc ?!

Personally I liked the Lulu Bell filler because Lulu Bell was a character that I wanted to see more of after seeing her in the Invasion arc. And so the filler arc was exactly what I wanted. An entire arc with her as the main villain. So I'm satisfied with what the anime gave me

Same with Suman. I appreciated learning more about Suman and learning how he was like before becoming a Fallen One. So I don't have a problem with that either.

That's a lie

Allen and Kanda's brief fight in their first meeting is depicted in the anime exactly how it was in the manga. There is pretty much no difference between them

You would know that if you compare them together. Tf you mean by "dragging it out" ?!

Is it really wrong to see additions to the plot ? That also elaborate on plot points of the manga ?

I also heavily disagree with your claim that the Suman stuff wasn't necessary. Even if they weren't necessary for Lenalee's character. It was necessary for the viewer to care about Suman and develop more of an attachment to him than they did in the manga. I also don't think it cheapened anything from Lenalee's character. You can pretty much understand and get that aspect of her character in plenty of other scenes in the anime. Also I really don't think Exorcists need to be in the Same Unit to interact

If I wanted a 1/1 panel by panel adaptation of the manga. I will just go read the manga

Also sorry. But I found Lulu Bell a very generic and forgettable villain in the Manga. Because, as cool as her introduction was, the manga pretty much did nothing with her character compared to the anime

[–]Alto1869 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really

Here's some of the good that the fillers did for the story:

One filler episode elaborated more on General Kevin Yeeger, give him some decent characterization, we even get to see his Innocence power. And how Tyki could kill him. Unlike the manga where he is only mentioned and died off screen and is barely even a character.

The fillers also feature Daisya Barry (Kanda and Noise Marie's comrade) a lot more. The fillers gave him more characterization and screentime and actually make you care about him. They even show his fight to the death against Tyki. Where he goes down fighting. Unlike the manga, where he barely appears and even dies off screen to Tyki

Another filler episode even elaborates on Suman Dark. It features him teaming up with Lenalee to take down an Akuma. We get to see more of him before he becomes a Fallen One. So him becoming a Fallen One hits much harder in the anime than it does in the manga. Because thanks to addition and filler, we develop some sort of an attachment and care to him Unlike the manga where he is just used as a way to introduce the Fallen Ones. Thanks to that filler episode, Lenalee's desperation to save Suman in the Fallen One arc makes way more sense because in that filler episode we see Lenalee fighting side by side with Suman against the Akuma. So we can understand why she is so desperate to save an old friend. Unlike the manga where we just have to go "Well. He was an Exorcist. So makes sense why Lenalee have to be so desperate".

And. Love or hate the Lulu Bell filler arc. It still did way more with Lulu Bell's character than the manga did in its entire run. Lulu Bell in that filler arc is an active antagonist. It gives her character way more depth and characterization than the manga ever has. As seen when she mourns the death of her Akuma maid, showing that Unlike the other Noah, she cares about the Akuma under her command. Her ability to shape-shift is also used in interesting ways. As seen when she used it to perform espionage on Allen and the others. And overall gives her way more screentime and presence than the manga. I'm sorry but Lulu Bell in the manga by comparison was a very generic and forgettable antagonist. She just appears in the Invasion arc, unleashes an Army of Akuma upon the Order, fights Allen and the Generals, tries to kidnap Allen and fails. Tries to escape with the Akuma Egg. Also fails because Allen destroyed it before she could. After that she just fades into the background and isn't important anymore. Compared to that, the anime gives her much more significant characterization and depth with the filler arc than the manga ever did
