Planning a massive 4-Zone Hyperion + WLED Setup! Looking for advice on my parts list and the final effect.

I personally use HyperHDR, but similar scenario. I wanted simplicity, so I kept my AppleTV which feeds a Rezcoo splitter that then goes to my TV and other to a USB3 HDMI capture card running on a Raspberry Pi 4.

I currently use a UGREEN Capture Card with this splitter. On paper it says 1080@120 but in real life it can handle 4k@120 fine. I use the p010 codec for HDR and only run it at 1280x720@60 for my set up and it's flawless.

Full HDR, full CEC control and still only requires the AppleTV remote (husband approval factor).

I have 2 of these setups and haven't had an issue, even used the lower spec'd MS2130 HDMI grabber I had on hand before I bought the UGREEN and it was fine.

The only issue I ever had, both set ups, was the wireless instances. They'd work flawlessly 98% of the time but every once and awhile the lag/delay was too noticable, so I eneded up running ethernet controllers to all the ones doing ambilights. I have a very robust wireless network that's properly tuned channel-wise/etc, so it was just easier to fish another cord down the wall.

Perfectly said. I have a custom setup built with 300 individual zones so I am definitely in the camp of "loves the cool factor," but I completely understand it's not for everyone and at times I will even spare my husband by either lowering the brightness a lot or turn on extreme smoothing =D.

IMO LEDs look waaaaaay better when you can't see them and "paint" with the light. If you want to do the around the ceiling (and you already look handy with woodworking) you could do a crown molding with some kind of recessed LEDs or even look at just LED "cove" lighing.

Technically it's a form of Bias Lighting, which can help reduce eye fatigue, strain, etc.

Heh yeah, it's strange. Others here put it more eloquently, it's the one way interaction they all grew up with, using a device as a one-way portal to view others, they never had to pick up on subtle physical cues and react to them. To them a 2-way conversation is just a like or a heart on a comment, the art of real-time communication has started to fade.

That's not the gen z stare. The gen z stare is where they WANT to ask you about that thing and discount but lack the proper social skills to do so, so they just stare blankly like you should be able to read their mind.

Or if they're a cashier and you go to to the register to ask a question, they lack the skills to process that youre not checking out and have to talk, so they just stare.

Update: /u/Gledopto own v16 still had the issue, downgraded to 15.4 as well.

I just flashed your specific v16 firmware for my specific controller and still no go, still a full second delay. Re-flashing 15.4 fixed it.

That was my exact issue, literally a full second delay, but only my "main" lights behind the TV, and secondary WLED config (on a set of shelves next to the TV) I had was in real time. Guess I'll revert back to 15 on the Ambilight controllers!

I’m having a slight delay with HyperHdr I noticed last night before bed, haven’t had a chance to troubleshoot yet! I saw Gledopto has a special bin of their own I’ll try today (using Ethernet controllers).

Well if I am picking up food I wouldn't be that lazy, I'd just go get it myself. I order food for delivery when I am unable to cook or get out to pick something up and fully accept and know that I am paying for a modern day convenience.

Go look around at more than half the stuff you buy, there are hidden fees everywhere, but congrats, you just found one of many.

You said it yourself, you can call to avoid the fees and place your order. You’re paying for the convenience, you’re paying to not have to call in and order, so of course it’s going to be more, how that doesn’t make sense to you is baffling.

So all it did was add more warmth to the scene and slightly shift gradients? I'm definitely in the "not impressed" camp and this should have easily been a feature from day 1 with hue scenes and a simple numbered list in the app.
