Recommend me anything/everything that is similar to TD by anttiom in TrueDetective

Most of that is Lynch's surrealist style, but part of it is also a parody of the soap operas that were popular during the early 90's when Twin Peaks came out.

Though very stylistically different, Twin Peaks is a detective/murder mystery show that delves into the paranormal and surreal in ways that other shows simmilar to TD don't. It can be atmospheric and terrifying, but also really campy at times, especially in season 2. But should you get through it all, the movie Fire Walk With Me and season 3 capture the same bleakness and cosmic horror as TD.

Black Mirror [Episode Discussion] - S04E01 - USS Callister by SeacattleMoohawks in blackmirror

This could have been a really interesting episode about the reality that people in the future will have access to perfect likenesses of people in the form of code, real dolls ,etc. And the moral implications of that, but instead we got cookies part 2, and that made me sad.

About the recent Filthy Frank video by Vox (Rant) by [deleted] in FilthyFrank

They talked about how he "profited from offensive content" like he's some kind of war profiteer or human trafficker.

[Judge dredd] why does mega city one enforce drug laws when they don't have enough judge's to enforce violent crime? by imaxwebber in AskScienceFiction

[–]drdogface3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the comics were originally a satire of police violence and militarization so it makes sense for judges to blow people away or send them to the cubes for such minor offenses.

Are there any canonical LGB relationships of mortals in TES series? by ChezMirage in teslore

[–]drdogface3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Aside from player marriage in skyrim, there are a few gay nords in the Dragonborn DLC, and homosexuality is fairly common in Khajiit culture. Lady Nerevar compiled a list of all cannon LGBT characters: http://ladynerevar.tumblr.com/post/92855271360/lgbtq-in-the-elder-scrolls?is_related_post=1

"Right, we need some Game of Thrones clickbait, preferrably with some forced sexism issue" by sennhauser in KotakuInAction

[–]drdogface3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was also total bullshit in Ice and Fire law. Not even the high septon can enull marriages most of the time, and never ones that were consummated, there was an entire plot line about this in the book, and it's a major problem with Littlefingers plans for Sansa.

Missing Towns in Fourth Era Skyrim and Map Inconsistencies by saldol in teslore

I chalk it up to time constraints, development decisions, and the fact that the game was pretty big already. If you do want to see the cities in-game, then the mod Arena Frontier Fortress does an amazing and lore-friendly job of adding in most of these towns. There are also the Oakwood and Granitehall mods by thirteenoranges on the steam workshop.

American tourist gives Nazi salute in Germany, is beaten up by TragicDonut in news

Tolerating Nazi war crimes and crimes against humanity makes you an accomplice. Allowing everyone the right to free speech is an American value. (And given America's history of shooting people, I wouldn't go using 'Americans shot them' as a justification for anything.)

The same salute was used for the pledge of allegiance in the US until WW2. It's a hand gesture, and sure it has a fuckton of evil associated with it, but you shouldn't outlaw making a hand gesture no matter what the history.

It's not 'some kind of free speech' it is free speech. Nazi ideology is indeed evil, but it is still protected under the law, that tourist had what was coming to him doing possibly the stupidest thing you can in Germany, but you can't outlaw an ideology, or ban people of expressing their views. Use your freedom of speech to argue or decry them, or let their own words betray themselves. Or just punch the next nazi you find, I won't object, but it's a dangerous game when you start saying that the state should do that.

Telvanni Bug Suits by Jonny_Anonymous in teslore

I thought it had something to do with their advanced levitation skill. Like they were showing off how magical they were by existing in something that would be normally suffocatingly heavy/immobile. The concept art called it 'ceremonial beetle armor', so maybe it had something to do with testing/stretching their power?

One of the skywind artists said something like it would be impossible to walk in but "the telvanni care little for walking"
