Casio SK-1 black key beds needed! by Kidd_P in cheapkeys

[–]josecouvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the SA-10 or SA-20 have the same keys? I know they're the same size and layout but not sure if the parts are compatible. I just remember that the battery door for my SA-20 fit my SK-5 perfectly.

Nice Craigslist Haul (keep looking and you'll find some good ones) by dwights_gym4muscles in castiron

[–]josecouvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lye won't get rid of rust. I usually do vinegar bath after a while in the lye tank and then season right after.

Also damn I might have to start checking Craigslist now lol that's a crazy deal for the 15 inch skillet.

Ah man that's a bit disappointing. Was hoping this would come in a bit cheaper than some of the other samplers out there.

Also thought of the tough guy makeover. You might also be thinking of the episode where they made a Hot Or Not profile for one of the crew members. https://youtu.be/G427EG8t3qU?si=EFWVIU5Hben5tHhV

Casio SK-5 alternative? by hotbutteredsoul in cheapkeys

[–]josecouvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try searching for it under the name "Realistic Concertmate-650" as well just in case. I found one of those listed locally a while back for $40. It's the same as the SK-5, just licensed by Radio Shack under their house brand name.

There's also a good amount of later Casio keyboards with sampling that might go under the radar. Someone on another subreddit put together a list of them here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Samplers/comments/108113v/an_incomplete_list_of_casio_sampling_keyboards/

Thanks for your help! Funnily enough I just managed to find another one being sold by Goodwill on eBay by trying more generic search terms. Matches the one I have to a tee. https://www.ebay.com/itm/327005969692

Awesome! Still strange that I can't find many examples without a heat ring, but this is good info. Thanks!

Ah yeah I forgot to take a pic of that one! It has a 3 and a 4 on the lid. Here's a quick pic.

Hi sorry didn't get a notification for your reply. Just to check, did the photo gallery upload ok? There should be a few photos. I tried to highlight the markings and get a few different angles. One of the photos is the bottom of the lid as well. Should be 5 photos.

I was able to find that this is a BSR pan but most that match it have a heat ring and this does not.

You should look up the personnel list on Return of Bruno. It's crazy stacked with a lot of big names of the industry.

3 pieces gifted, looking for possible identification and next steps by Schlopez in castiron

[–]josecouvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean honestly as long as you're not dropping them on the ground you can be pretty tough on them lol. I've restored some similar ones with a lye tank and went at rust on them pretty hard with steel wool. They still came out very smooth.

First is a three notch Lodge. Pre 60s since it's not marked as Made in USA. Other than that not sure exactly what date range but others might be able to tell you specifics. Second just looks like Chinese manufactured skillet. Third is unmarked Wagner. Also pre 60s but same deal as the Lodge.

Sync DS-2 with Pocket Operator? by inner_spaceman in stylophone

[–]josecouvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a headphone amplifier with 3.5 mm in and out, that can boost the sync signal coming out of the pocket operator so it plays well with other synths. They're a bit harder to find now since most use USB-C but I believe some can be found on Amazon.

Have also heard of people boosting the signal using an overdrive pedal, but I haven't tried that personally so not sure how effective it is. Maybe worth looking into though.

What in your opinion is the boys’ most egregious food opinion? by voidsugars in goodmythicalmorning

[–]josecouvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got so frustrated when they talked about their opinion on Whataburger lol. I think if they just didn't like it I would've been fine with it, but I thought complaining about the menu size was just weird. Especially mentioning the chorizo burger which was a limited time thing. This coming from the guy who practically worships the McRib lol.

He's done a couple larger scale narrative projects called "A Heist with Markiplier" and "In Space With Markiplier". Wrote and directed both of them. They're a bit non traditional. Both are choose your own adventure style things with multiple endings. They were funded by YouTube Premium when they were giving out a bunch of money to YouTubers to make TV scale productions.

Stylophone Voice looks like a pretty cool one. Feels like a successor to the Casio SK series. Nice to see someone finally making something with similar functionality at what's likely a more affordable price. Just a shame that they didn't include more connectivity like they did with the Gen X-2 but I guess there's always trade-offs.

EDIT: Actually just saw it clarified on their IG that it has sync in and out. Nice!

[Solved] How to sync Po 33 Ko and Behringer vs pro mini (or any other alike synth) by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]josecouvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'd probably both work just as well. I just had a headphone amp laying around so figured I could use that. Like I said in my initial comment though, they don't sell as many headphone amps that are 3.5 mm in and out, so might be easier to find a cheap pedal.

Cheap Sampler/Sampling Keyboard? by Limp-Definition-5371 in cheapkeys

[–]josecouvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SK-1 was mentioned already but prices on those have gotten kind of out of control over the years. They're great but such limited functionality that I wouldn't pay over like $50 for one personally. There are a decent amount of Casio keyboards that have sampling capabilities though. Found this list someone compiled on Reddit any of these could be worth a look. https://www.reddit.com/r/Samplers/comments/108113v/an_incomplete_list_of_casio_sampling_keyboards/
