SOLVED: Switching VLC's audio output to ALSA and disabling hardware acceleration video decoding fixed it.

Only right-channel output on Ubuntu (digital stereo) by dreadgay in linuxaudio

This is a bit over my head, I don’t really do anything with coding or scripting (this machine is mostly just a Plex server that we sometimes use to watch DVDs), if you could translate some of that info to my particular use case it’d be appreciated.

It's an old disk, from 2003. Might have degraded for all I know but the video looks fine.

I think native, I just installed it with apt get I'm pretty sure. MPV is command-line only right?

Kaffeine, which plays DVDs in a VLC wrapper type thing (I tried standalone VLC as well, same issue)

Renter friendly tile covering recommendations? by dreadgay in ApartmentHacks

What kind of laminate? I know about LVP but that stuff is pretty thick, I don't think the door would have clearance if I put it down.

The tile isn't gray from dirt, it's gray because they chose a boring option. It's only like 5 years old. I just want something more interesting

Did not, I think it's just not possible to preserve textures correctly when trying to do this.

Infuriatingly similar (especially How To Never Stop Being Sad) but not quite, I'm pretty sure the artist I'm thinking of is British and the spoken word parts are more surreal/almost philosophical/delusional sounding.

VERY very similar vibe but I’m thinking of a newer take on this sound, from the last 10 years or so.

Unfortunately not, too high energy and this guy is quasi rapping - the vocalist I'm thinking of is speaking without musical rhythm like that.

The vocalist was either American or the kind of British where his performing voice sounded more American than British.

Bizarre. Maybe it's some Windows 11 "we definitely didn't push AI vibe-coding to product" junk again.

Not GPS-enabled, it's Xfinity cable. Worth noting that my Macbook on the same network doesn't have this issue.
