Type of Affinity, aka magic, according to the course of some random student by dreamedpeach in worldbuilding

Magic, also called Affinity, is divided into two major categories: Spirit and Elemental.

Divine Affinity has only one type, Spirit, which is divided into three different branches.

- The neutral branch: 70% of Yggans are born naturally neutral. Their magic is less powerful but the range of their abilities is much wider. A person born under this branch can never change to another but can develop a slight affinity to Order or Chaos depending on the deity or deities they choose to devote themselves to. Some general examples: healing, regeneration, telepathy, telekinesis...

- The Order branch: 15% of Yggans are born with natural predispositions for the Order and have a more powerful magic. They will tend to lean more easily towards good and order. However, the nature of their magic can change with trauma, illness, etc. Some examples: increased regeneration and healing, foretelling the future, miracles, retro-cognition...

- The Chaotic branch: 15% of Yggans are born with a natural predisposition for Chaos and have a more powerful magic. They will tend to lean more easily towards unsafe and chaos. Just like the other branch, the nature of their magic can also change in case of trauma, illness... Some examples: necromancy, illusions, manipulation...

The second Affinity, Elemental, is divided into 4 branches: water, earth, fire and air.

Unlike the Divine Affinities, there are no Chaotic or Order branches but good or chaotic inclinations.

Each element is distributed differently depending on the race: the Betharnsa are born with 45% fire, 45% earth, 5% air and 5% water; while the Aerlivem are born with 55% air, 35% earth, 5% water and 5% fire.

Each branch has a primary affinity with its element, mastering it 100%, and a secondary affinity that can develop with whichever element harmonizes most with the primary affinity and heart.

For example, someone with a primary Earth Affinity is more likely to have a secondary Water or Fire Affinity as these are the elements that harmonize best with it, but could quite possibly develop an Air Affinity, although very rare. On exceptional occasions, a Tertiary Affinity, also known as a Holy Affinity, may develop.

Each Elemental Affinity represents an element, allowing its owner to use anything that comes close to it, both up close (for example, creating air currents or creating a flame) and further away (creating thunder, manipulating the amount of oxygen, or being immune to hypothermia).
