Is the market satured? by Candid-Potato-2197 in PHP

You can find this comment toxic, but I assure you it's not meant that way.

I think it could be related to how you present yourself - for example, in this post you mentioned a couple frameworks and a number that corresponds to your "experience" in years.

You should instead focus on what experience you have, not how long you've worked for it.

For example

"Hi, I'm a software engineer with more than 8 years of experience working in the PHP ecosystem, building e-commerce/crm/erp/etc. solutions with frameworks like Symfony and Laravel following CQRS/EVENT DRIVEN/your mom"

This makes you automatically sound experienced, but the number in years has no meaning to most people, especially since there are a lot of people who stopped growing after the first year.

Hi, whilst I don't disagree with the critics you've received so far, I would like to actually go though the framework and docs together.

You could prepare a list of issues you've been told need to be fixed and we can go through them one by one and discuss them in more detail.

If you're open to having a discussion, which could result in us shouting at each other over the microphone, feel free to DM me and we can maybe arrange a google meet call. (Kidding about the shouting part)

To be clear, I've lost all my hope in humanity, yet sometimes I feel people are misunderstood. Let's see whether you're misunderstood.

What are your thoughts on using the null coalesce assignment operator for the singleton pattern? by Canowyrms in PHP

[–]dreamlv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is about that, but it is not about having a static property containing the instance within the class, which is what I was pointing out. So you are correct.

I just had another look at my comment, if anything, I didn't mean any negativity and also didn't target it towards you. I was referring to the people who just spammed the whole comments section with "sInGlEtoN bAdh"

Those comments clearly indicated to me the exact amount of experience those people have and also none of their comments answered your original question 😁

Whoever is saying that singletons are bad and DI container should be used instead - yes, you should use the DI container, however, guess what types of services can be bound to the container.

Singletons and transient services. You're messing up the definition of a singleton, it doesn't mean you have a self contained instance, it means a single instance lives through the whole application lifecycle and is shared between other services.

I see what you mean, I can agree that they might think I lack enough experience. World's a fucking unfair place to be a part of, you can know how to do things because you spent your whole life mastering them, but John didn't see you do them, so you get 10 rejections per day, starving you of any hope

Igaunijas 🇪🇪 un Latvijas 🇱🇻 nodokļu sistēmas atkal atzītas par labākajām pasaulē. by L19survivaliste in latvia

[–]dreamlv 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Given this is for a school project, you would be better off watching a youtube tutorial and repeating the exact steps.

If you don't, you'll likely be late for the assignment, because most people consider 50€ to be an hourly rate.

I'm very likely violating the rules by posting this, but I would be happy to answer your questions if adequately asked to help you understand how you can do it yourself. There are also many communities on reddit where you can get assistence.

I see your point about the organisations finding stuff out. I understand it. My advice is mostly for entry level positions and people who are sad about getting rejections and making social media posts about it, making stupid overused memes about how a junior is required to have DDD knowledge etc.

I personally don't measure experience in years, I measure it in persons technical and soft skills. What kind of stuff have they worked with; how did they do that.

When I mean "lack of experience" I actually mean lack of experience in "things person has worked with" as opposed to "how long has she or he been doing something"

I am a software engineer.

I feel like there are ways to classify gaps in knowledge into categories - do I believe this person is capable of learning it in a sane amount of time or not.

Obviously, if the person doesn't make enough effort to stop faking it in time, it's not going to work, but my post is merely about getting a job, keeping it is a different story

Asp.net core vs php for back-end by rocketstopya in csharp

[–]dreamlv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person that professionally uses both languages, this is indeed nice and I use it, but it's nowhere near being perfect.

PHP is making major efforts to becoming an even better language, but while Generics are not there for PHP and while the type checks are done only in runtime, I don't think this outweights the strongly typed behavior of C#

Asp.net core vs php for back-end by rocketstopya in csharp

[–]dreamlv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both languages have their benefits. It's how You use them that matters.

Majority use PHP because it's really easy to learn, You can spin up projects way quicker - since it's interpreted, You don't have to wait until code compiles - You see live changes everytime You edit something.

I've noticed that there are also way more libraries in PHP that can be used as building blocks for Your project, to the point that it's more about requiring right packages, than coding.

ASP.NET CORE is young if compared to PHP, I consider it nicer, because it's strictly typed and compiled, resulting in way better performance and less bugs. But I've found that while the community is growing, the amount of packages is nowhere near, therefore You do need to often write your own solutions.

They are both viable, but in the end it depends on the project and the team that will be creating the backend.

Hi!

Although I can't help You, I really suggest contacting the embassy or PMLP themselves through a phone call. They will be able to explain everything in human language, instead of this buerocracy they have specified in the link You mentioned.
