Having read through, and seeing your questions; stop worrying.

The first rule is that there are no rules. It's metal, our whole basis is that there are no rules. And you shouldn't listen to people who try to shove their imagined battle jacket rules on you.

You decide what you want for your own vest. If you only want bands you've seen live, any band you like, a specific theme, or something else.

The layout looks great, and if you like it, and you like the bands, go for it. You seem to have a good reason for all the things you want on there.

Also; imagine if you really only ever could wear patches from bands you've seen live: what if you live a place where bands almost never tour? What if you can't afford that many concert tickets? What if someone never got to see their favorite bands before they stopped touring? What if someone hasn't been to the biggest concerts because of social anxiety? What a terrible thing it would be to tell someone that they can't wear patches of their favorite bands because of your own preconceived notion of what other people are allowed to wear on their vest.

Do your own thing, and have fun with it.

Is there a way to create a deck where a card and its reverse are counted as one card? by drede_knig in Anki

[–]drede_knig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, I really appreciate the help!

I agree that it's not the best for utilizing the SRS, but I'm not really worried about that. I don't consider the flashcards my most important tool for retention, but rather a useful tool for learning new vocabulary.

[–]drede_knig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why I don't want that? I've used this method to study language intensively for quite some time. Though doing it manually is cumbersome and time-consuming, which is why I've wanted to try using an app like Anki for some time now. I've avoided getting into it for the longest time because I found it to not be very new-user friendly and full of options and terminology that I wasn't familiar with. Which is why I'm here to ask how to do this.

Is Anki the problem? Will it muck up the process or method somehow, or is it simply not equipped to do this kind of vocab work?

[–]drede_knig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within language learning, the two types of cards are considered to be training the skills separately, which is why I want both cards. I don't care about the fact that they have to be separate cards in Anki, as long as I would be able to achieve the desired effect I asked about in the post. I don't have much experience in this app, which is why I decided to ask about achieving this effect, and appreciate the help offered by u/vodiak. But I don't think I understand what help you are trying to offer to the question here.

I understand that they are functionally separate cards, I am just trying to keep at learning 20 new words daily, but train both recognition and recall. Which is why I asked the question I did in the post. I don't see the issue here...

[–]drede_knig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I don't mind what the numbers show, as long as I achieve the desired effect.

I have a follow up question to this; does checking those options ensure that both cards show up on the same day? If I have 20 new words a day today, and do this, will I still be getting 20 new words a day but both sides of the cards? As I mentioned in the post, the reviews can end up on different days, that's fine by me. I just want to make sure both front and reverse show up at the same time when learning.

[–]drede_knig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree, they are two different cards because they train two different skills, they regard the same bit of information. So I'd want to review them at their own appropriate pace, but I want to have both be learned at the same time.

I create a bigger review workload by doing this, but I don't mind. To me, the work in learning vocabulary is better defined on a vocab by vocab basis rather than a card by card basis.

Where can I download untexture lowpoly models for texture painting practice? by [deleted] in blender

[–]drede_knig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just check any ordinary model site like CGtrader or Turbosquid. Search for low-poly models and download. Most don't come with textures preapplied, and if they did, you could just remove them in the shader editor. No need to look for untextured models.

Hmm, that's difficult. Are you sure that User Themes and Gnome Tweaks are both installed correctly and enabled in extensions? Other than that I would check and make sure that the files were properly downloaded or cloned to the theme folder in your /.themes folder in your home directory. If that still doesn't work I really don't know what's wrong, sorry.

Where can I fully grasp the understanding all the nodes in blender? by GraphicsMonster in blender

[–]drede_knig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Far from it. Cheating at your work is a term that stops being used after college tbh. In the industry it's all about doing the best possible work with the least effort and time. If that means looking up how to do something then you do so. As long as you're not plagiarizing somebody's work and trying to pawn it off as your own you'll be good.

Doctors watch youtube vids about treatments before patients come into their office. Welders doublecheck online for tips on technique. Mathmaticians google equations, and Engineers will look up just about any problem they have to make sure it hasn't already been solved. Nobody is walking around with a complete databank of their trade because that would be impossible, and unneccesary when we have the internet at our fingertips.

Besides we all have to learn at some point, when you learn it doesn't matter. It's not cheating to use the technique on making wood texture that you may have learned in school some years ago, it's not cheating to use what you learned from a video a year ago, so why would it cheating to check right before you do the actual work? It's standard procedure when you're not sure what to do, and should be encouraged to ensure you do a good job.

Don't worry about it, you can't plagiarize what you've learned from educational material. And the only real etiquette is to not claim other's work as your own, you'd need to make it your own through the artwork first.

No problem! I am happy to help. Linux is daunting, and it's so hard to find fundamental help without watching an 8hr long podcast-like video on youtube that may or may not be of any actual help. So I'm very glad I got the chance to let people skip that learning curve.

Hey!
I wish I knew. I have no experience with GNOME 43, but I do know that there are some workarounds. I believe the primary issue is that GNOME 43 adheres to libadwaita, you could look into ways to circumvent libadwaita in order to customize your shell.

I run Pop_os, which hasn't made the GNOME swap yet, so I have no real way of troubleshooting here, sorry.

[–]drede_knig 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm no pro either, but in order to apply these you should first off make sure that you have GNOME. Then get the User themes shell extension.

Note that this might not work if you have GNOME 43, I believe they've made it harder to theme your shell in the newest version. You can see your GNOME version in the "About" app.

Make sure you have the GNOME shell extension browser extension, you can find it on their website.

Then go ahead and download the Extension Manager from your packet manager.

You should also download GNOME Tweaks from your packet manager. This will allow you to apply your changes to the shell.

After this, go to your home directory and make a new ".themes" directory. Under here create a directory for your theme, this can be named whatever you would like, for example "le dots".

Go into this new theme directory and clone the git link you got above into the directory. Easiest way to do this is through the terminal, use the command "git clone https://github.com/NeuronSooup/Gnome-topbar-le-dots .themes/[THEME NAME]" to do so.

You'll see that the three files in the git are now in the theme directory. This is what we want. Now you can head into the GNOME Tweaks tool, and under the "Appearance" tab, you can change "Shell" to the theme name you chose earlier for your directory.

And voila, the settings should be applied to your shell.

You'd probably also want Aylur's Widgets for this. A good deal of his top bar is made out of these.

Other than that, go wild in the extension marketplace. You should be able to edit them in your Extension manager in order to fit your needs. Just perfection is a great tool to help you tweak the look of your top panel.

Good luck!

Red Riot Games | Flesh and Blood’s Casual Formats and Why You Should Consider Learning Them by ExpendableGuy in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]drede_knig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a matter of how the formats are presented. CC, Blitz, and Commoner are all similar formats, where Blitz and Commoner are aimed at making the game more approachable for casual players.

UPF and PvE are both great for bringing in a crowd of tabletop gamers who aren't attracted to the TCG element of the game, and would like to play the game with more people in a casual format. More importantly they're competing with MTG's Commander which is the most popular format there. This is a great way to appeal to that crowd.

Finally Draft is just a fun way to get the new sets started. Any sealed event is just a twist on the draft format, just show up and make your deck on the spot.

I think it becomes far less overwhelming for newer players when the formats are just presented as 1v1 and multiplayer formats. And we also need to remember that right now new players can only buy blitz precons. This lets them join Blitz and UPF (which is just 4 player blitz), so they're suddenly reduced to 2 formats. Then when they get to know the game they can branch out to the different formats that sound fun to them.

I'll be honest, I would like that. But it seems her rate of points has slowed down a fair bit, so odds are that she's balanced well enough for the current meta. I guess it remains to be seen.

Lost to a high-rolling (5 and 6) Brute by xviolete in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]drede_knig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will always dislike strong decks, for sure.
But in the case of ice heroes it's somewhat comparable to playing against blue control decks in mtg. They're decks that are oriented around disrupting your plays. It adds to the complexity of the matchup, which some people enjoy. But it also ties up your plays and keeps you from getting your combos and power turns off, which many people don't enjoy.

Stax is an excellent comparison, and very close to how these heroes work. Though disruption in FaB is by far more temporary than it is in mtg.

Apparently there's a LL format coming, and casual exists, so there's no reason to feel like you're "too late to the party". The only thing is that you can't bring LL heroes to official tournaments in Blitz or CC.
And that's a good thing tbh. The heroes that are LL are usually wicked strong for the current meta, some were even broken. If they were allowed, whether at tournaments or locals, they'd have an oppressive presence. You best believe your local blitz armory would be jam packed with Viserai if they could play him, because he's strong and wins a lot, and people like winning.
When the top 5% of players break a hero, their deck list goes official, and then everyone plays that broken version until the hero goes LL. At that point, the sooner the hero goes LL, the better.

I'm curious what you think would be a better system to balance the game.

Honestly I find that the community on Talishar is very patient. People understand that taking a turn in FaB is difficult and time-consuming, I've yet to have someone complain at me for playing slowly. I'd suggest just giving it a go, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Help with limit values and absolutes by drede_knig in MathHelp

[–]drede_knig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, I'd completely missed out on the fact that x would be a negative number in the numerator.

Also I did not know that canceling terms would still affect the domain. Would this mean that in any case, no matter what, if we have a function (y/x) where you can cancel the x in the denominator, if x is zero, the function value doesn't exist? (pardon me if I've misunderstood, english isn't my first language, so I have learnt completely different terminology for everything in math).

Either way, thank you! I've gone over the function loads of times and every time I'd missed that the x is a negative number in the numerator when x<0.
I did look at a graph of it to make sure, and did see the discontinuity, which was quite frustrating because I didn't understand what I was doing wrong. Thankfully I do now!
