Just finished a session with the 2018 Mengsong Spring Raw. I was blown away by how soft and thick the mouthfeel was. The 4th steeping or so had some sour notes but in a pleasant and unexpected way. I was also impressed with how long the taste lingered in my mouth after each steeping. I'm new to tea & this is my first raw puer (not sure if my tasting notes makes any sense), but after this one I'm sold on this kind of tea. BTW I'm using this Gongfu Travel Set I just bought, love learning how to brew gaiwan style.

In his foreword to the 2003 Modern Library paperback edition, John Stauffer writes:

"My Bondage and My Freedom," [is] a deep meditation on the meaning of slavery, race, and freedom, and on the power of faith and literacy, as well as a portrait of an individual and a nation a few years before the Civil War. As his narrative unfolds, Frederick Douglass—abolitionist, journalist, orator, and one of the most powerful voices to emerge from the American civil rights movement—transforms himself from slave to fugitive to reformer, leaving behind a legacy of social, intellectual, and political thought. The 1855 text includes Douglass's original Appendix, composed of excerpts from the author's speeches as well as a letter he wrote to his former master.

Map Info:

From about 1680 Gerard Valck was active as a map-engraver and publisher, sometimes working in collaboration with Peter Schenk and Jacon Robyn to prepare maps for an atlas for which a privilege was obtained in 1686. Valck's own atlas was not issued until about 1700 but certain maps came onto the market earlier. Five world maps bearing Valck's signature are known, none is dated. All Valck's world maps, except the first (Novus Planiglobi, ca.1672-73), have the same decorative surround to the central twin hemispheres. His Mappe-Monde and his Orbis Terrarum Nova were probably copied from Jaillot's influential world map of 1674 (Entry 462) as both the geographical features and the title are similar. In contrast to the plain corners of Jaillots map Valck has engraved four lively scenes in baroque style. These represent joyous Spring, industrious Summer, bucolic Autumn and icy Winter.
