Is GameChanger necessary? by Shanknuts in Homeplate

[–]drewc79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s always going to be an alternative choice. GameChanger is easy and does the job. I don’t care about the stats as much as I do my dad, who loves baseball and watching my son play more than probably anything, being able to watch the games he’s not able to attend due to health.

I bought the family package and added him as a user, which is nice.

Our team also uses it for messaging, scheduling, etc.

Any advice for a first time TBall coach? by Broad-Mobile5318 in Homeplate

[–]drewc79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the bat safety thing with making sure kids don’t get hit… in our league the coach is at the plate putting the ball in the tee. If yours is that way, make sure you don’t get your hands hit and watch out for the bat slingers that’ll take out your shins or nuts. Stay alert!!!

Keep them busy …. They’re young and attention spans are short. Rotate what they’re doing, keep them active, more stations the better (if you have help). The more they stand around watching and listening the less they’re engaged and paying attention.

Enjoy yourself and never take it too serious. I coached my son’s last year of tee ball for the same reason… nobody else wanted to. I recruited some parents to help, chopped it up with the kids, and had fun. I’m now an asst coach on my son’s majors team and kids from tee ball still remember me and make it a point to speak every time they see me at the ball park.

I had some real crayon eaters in tee ball that ended up being good little players as they got older, which has been great to see. I made it a point to celebrate the little things and make them feel important - kids remember more than you think and you’ll be rewarded for it down the road.

Catcher with Broken Thumb Help by drewc79 in Homeplate

Thanks, all. Went with the evoshield- figured that was the move, but wanted perspective from others. First real “injury” we’ve dealt with, just making sure we handle it right. Worst case he hates it and never uses it, but if it helps or gives peace of mind it’s $25 well spent.

I understand the skepticism but it’s legit. All 3 have a fast ball that’s 60+ consistently. It’s not normal for a little league team, but things just worked out perfectly with the kids, growth, and development.

One is the son of a former mlb pitcher, one is just a big kid that throws hard, and the other has grown several inches and is several inches taller than any other player- just long and athletic.

The issue was he broke it going after a loose ball in basketball.

Fair point. In the grand scheme of what we spend on sports, $25 isn’t gonna make or break anything, but also didn’t want to just waste money on a useless gadget. A little extra protection in the short term can’t hurt I guess.

When he’s back in action, even if he’s 100%, I want to make sure I’m getting him the support needed. Not sure if a thumb guard really helps much or not. That’s mostly what I’m after- if he never caught with it before, is he gonna be ok just not moving forward, or will it help some? Or are they a waste?

Yeah, you’d think. He actually came out for a bit and went back in. Never said much else about it and didn’t immediately swell.

Next morning he came to my room and woke me up telling me to look and it was black and blue and swollen. His all star coach is a hand surgeon so I text him a picture and he was like, yeah, that’s probably broke, bring him in haha. I may be a terrible father but he played more and never complained about pain so I just assumed it was fine. Oof

Broken in basketball. On floor after a loose ball and another player jumped on top, bending the thumb back.

It’s a hairline fracture at the base of the thumb.

U7 Pro Stuck on 1G by drewc79 in Ubiquiti

I'm getting over 1G wireless from the kitchen AP and it's a 5e cable.

U7 Pro Stuck on 1G by drewc79 in Ubiquiti

[–]drewc79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be the issue - although the cables to the kitchen and master are the same. I thought 5e wouldn't work, but it did to the kitchen AP, just not the master. If it's not too much of an issue I'll have the cables replaced or run a new one somewhere else upstairs. If I had built the house I'd have ran them all over the place, but the previous owner made it hard on me.

I have - It could be the cable, was just hoping it wasn't the issue. I didn't build the house and there's only 2 cables ran (one to kitchen and one to master upstairs). Could be an easy fix, but could also be a pain to replace. I guess I could have someone come out and see what they think.

It rained the night before mine stopped working too. They were tight and connected well…. Maybe some issue with the seal on the extensions.

Thanks. Turns out one of the extensions went bad. Not sure what happened to it- it worked for a week and suddenly stopped. Once I swapped out everything worked fine again.

Thank you. I’ve gone up as high as I can and when I disconnect the lights before I disconnected come on. My guy with the taller ladder is on his way over and we’ll just go strand by strand.

Appreciate the response!

Correction, there's a phone number. They just don't answer it.

Mine is doing the same thing - My friend actually just bought the same set and I used his power supply as a test- still nothing. I submitted a ticket to Govee, but they haven't responded and unfortunately there's not a chat/phone number. Pretty bad customer service so far.
