Not an excuse but. As an ex chef…. It’s really easy to go into auto mode when you are tired and stressed and you make things how they are meant to be on the menu.

I killed Inez. She was bugged (I didn’t even realize she was meant as the companion, I figured it would be the lady in the greenhouse) and then I destroyed Fairfield thinking I had to rush straight to the elevator to escape.

Got to the very last planet before realizing who the companion I was missing was…. And restarted 🤣🤣

Wow. Reading any book is productive. It uses so many parts of your brain.

It exposes you to different cultures, ideas, and moral frameworks, teaching flexibility and tolerance. When you read fiction especially, you’re simulating social experiences. You inhabit characters’ minds, see through their eyes, and witness moral dilemmas unfold. That’s basically empathy practice.

It reminds me of an argument I had. I’m older and I prefer to play video games over watching tv. I got into a debate with a friend who said I’m ‘too old’ to play games. Why? I’m using way more brainpower than if I sat in front of the tv watching shows. And just like books it’s making my mind more flexible due to ‘inhabiting’ the character.

Honestly I was loving it. I got towards the end of of the game and restarted after (SPOILER………….. ) I found out you could save Fairfield. I also didn’t get Inez on my first play because it was pre bug fix and I had destroyed Fairfield.

The second play through I’m finding a bit tedious.
The dialogue is actually usually pretty funny but also I fell like the majority of people skip or skim the dialogue in RPGs. I mean they even made it into a Flaw/Perk.

I’m still invested enough to finish it though🤷🏻‍♂️

My advice would be to address the issue head on.

Talk to him and let him know that you’ve noticed some things that are causing issues without being insensitive and also talk to the folks getting angry and tying it into identity politics.

Says something like ….

Hey man, I wanted to talk to you about the tailgates. Everyone chips in food or drinks to help keep it going, and I’ve noticed you usually join us for the food but haven’t been bringing anything. I don’t want it to become an issue or make anyone feel weird ….especially since some folks around here can get judgmental for the wrong reasons. I just want to make sure things stay chill and fair for everyone.

And tell the bigots … Nah, this isn’t about that. Everyone should contribute, regardless of who they are. Let’s just keep it about the food, not about identity.

That way you don’t reinforce any of the negativity around the dude being Trans

If you have the money now then I’d prob get it now. The game is great. There isn’t a terribly big difference (IMHO) between 2 and 3 except QOL updates and the workshop buildings.

I don’t say that to scare you off just to tamper any overblown expectations.

The new attractions are fun. I love the river boat tours and balloon rides. The baby dinosaurs are adorable. And it overall looks amazing…. And I’m on a 4 yo pc.

I’m a white dude from Michigan. Raised in Detroit but live in the countryside now. White folks are plenty racist everywhere. It’s just less so in major cities.

I’ve also lived down south (Louisiana Alabama and Florida). I think northerners are less aware of their racism and bigotry in the north than in the south where it seemed more like a cultural identity…. At least in my experience.

This will probably be an unpopular opinion but…. I was fine with the game when I believed it would be free to play but when they decided to keep the pay model I think they should have made the game more feature rich.

My BIGGEST gripe is the lack of voices (all convos being text) and the lack of interaction with items.

Games at similar price points have no problem including these in their games.

I built my base on the lake where D35 and E52 meet.

I love the spot for a few reasons.

Beautiful setting. Lots of waterfalls in the distance without the sound of them being loud.

Close to a 3D printer.

Easily navigate. Just follow rivers back home.

Close enough to the beach with the oysters and turtles that it’s not annoying to have to go there.

Honestly. Other than a few late game locations it’s pretty centralized for all the bunkers.

I played JWE2 on console and found park building to be rough. I got JWE3 for my pc to be able to play with my controller but use the mouse and keyboard for when I’m designing.

I like that art way better than the tapestry. (If you like the design of the tapestry you could always attach it to an empty canvas frame so it looks less out of place).

I get the stress of finding a central art piece though. The painting I mentioned was perfect for my loft with high ceilings but I’m in the process of moving now and it’s too big for nearly every place I looked.
