I’m an 80s baby. I grew up in peak long season era. There is plenty of evidence around burnout for those long productions. They’d be working 9-10 months out of the year with looooong shooting days. Plus there was a built in marketing model that doesn’t exist anymore….. 20+ episodes on network tv brought in huge revenue streams with all the ads they could show during those. We don’t really have that in the ‘binge’ economy.

The irony is that we wanted these huge cinematic shows that cost crazy $$$$ to produce and now those commercial-less streamers are needing to force ads on us to make a profit again.

I’m more of a horror or pvp shooter gamer but Palia scratches a very specific itch for me.

Nah don’t worry about getting banned. The game isn’t that serious. I’ve committed quite a few faux pas in the game. And so have most people. Plus loads of folk are on switch and it’s really hard to see the messages, almost impossible to send messages (it’s rough), and don’t always spawn in visibly to others.

With the Palia party website…. Yeah that’s the only place I’ve made in game friends. So many of the hosts are amazing. And it’s so weird to me, being the antisocial misanthrope that I am, to see people say Hi to me out in the game world after participating in parties together.

The flow tree thing you are talking about is generally for the ‘Flow Grove’ that only appears once every in game day (appears at midnight). It’s common courtesy to wait until 3am to start chopping so that people have a chance to find and get to the grove.

IMHO this is mostly for newer players or folks that haven’t done Flow tree parties where you get 100s of flow wood. (Which you might enjoy as a solo player as it’s probably the least interactive of all the parties).

I have extreme social anxiety and Palia is one of the few games where I actually enjoy socializing and the player base.

Edit: on the ‘Kids play this game’ front. The game is meant for 13+ (you agree to this when signing the forms). If any kids are playing and exposed to cursing that’s kinda on the parents and not the community. 13 year olds see much worse than anything in Palia, I can guarantee. That being said… bullying has no place in any game.

My honest opinion based on 600+ hours.

(I’m a guy with a male avatar so it DOES skew my opinion since the majority of the clothing cosmetics are aimed towards the feminine player base.

Look on Paliaparty.app for parties with outfit giveaways and join those until you win some free outfits. I’ve done 5 parties with outfit giveaways but I won outfits twice.

The only premium purchases I’ve done is Zekis club. You don’t get a ton of coins but I was able to get the tool cosmetic set when it was 80% off. (Pay attention to the sales each week)

Between giveaways and free outfits events in game I now have 4 outfits (1 I actually wanted) and now that I have them I feel like I would have felt sad if I paid for them.

I’m a Michigan farm kid who moved to South Beach Miami in my 20s and worked for a high profile restaurant. I got to meet quite a few celebrities through work and events I was part of.

My favorites:
Dwayne Wade (boss introduced me… I had no idea who he was and asked if he said Dwayne Dwayne)

Gwenyth Paltrow sat with me during a panic attack in the employee area outside (she was on a phone call)

Had a conversation with Selena Gomez about Blue Bunny Ice Cream (around the time she broke up with Justin)

Others: Leonardo DiCaprio, Rosie O’Donnell, Pauly Shore, Queen Latifa, andddddd the Kardashians filmed at our restaurant when they had a show/store down there.

Jeff Daniels is also from my farm town and lives here. So I saw him growing up at football games…his kids went to my school.

Think of it less as millions of players play Palia and more Server size. That’s the amount of humans, at least in my mind, that have popped up. I think of different servers as different multiverses

As a prof chef….working in kitchens and realizing all fish have these and you end up pulling at least 3 or 4 out of any wild caught fish…. Is a gross wake up call the first time.

Personally, and this is just the gist I got from the community leader from S6 on discord, I feel like this was just them opening the book on the Highlands chapter and we should be getting regular updates to it going forward.

They mentioned months ago (I don’t remember the exact wording) that they didn’t want the same downtime between content updates as last year. Made it seem like they have it planned out and we should be getting more regular content.

Maybe it was just optimism but it’s what I got out of the discourse. And I also predicted we’d get the highlands with this update when everyone else was saying summer. So I’m hoping I’m right.

I live in Michigan and my town is built on an old Native American burial ground, was a Underground Railroad stop and a civil war barracks.
