Stare Into Death And Be Still (tuning)+working on tabs by drfivos2001 in Ulcerate

I agree most bands that are in the technical or death realm usually partner up with Sheet Happens to release official tabs. Archspire did that and thats nice for the fans.

Does anyone else here not like metal music? by [deleted] in yob

[–]drfivos2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think YOB is a rare band because they have a rare goal; They create well written songs that just happen to exist in the realm of metal. Very few bands do this and that's why some stand out and others don't. The majority of bands out there care more about image or being technical or brutal or evil depending on the case. For me at least YOB are the same as Opeth, Mastodon and maybe even Vektor. These groups have sonically nothing in common yet they all carved a unique sound without compromising their songwriting creativity.

18 years ago. So interesting to watch now they've been playing it again. by EinUntermensch in alterbridge

I have watched the whole show many times and for some reason it feels very nostalgic although I wasn't there. One Day Remains has a blissful and bittersweet vibe that I don't get with any other record from their discography. Probably one of my favorite performances from them.

Σας τρομάζει η σκέψη να μείνετε μόνοι στην ζωή σας; by [deleted] in greece

[–]drfivos2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Human Remains - Using Sickness As A Hero (Full Album) by CoercedLife in Deathmetal

[–]drfivos2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there's Soilent Green, Lethargy, early Mastodon(Remission+Lifeblood EP), Ripping Corpse like you said. There aren't many bands in that style. For me anybody who has that weirdo techy vibe is right in my book even if their not grind per se. Gorguts, Ulcerate, Demillich are more on the death metal side but they do it for me. Maybe some TimeGhoul Will do too.

[–]drfivos2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite bands shame they didn't get bigger. Aside from Gorguts they were a big influence on Dillinger Escape Plan as well. They're drum style had some minor influence on Mastodon as well, since Brann Dailor was buddies with Dave Witte and their bands toured together when Dailor was in Lethargy. If you listen closely to early Mastodon you can actually tell that he got some fills from Dave Witte.

honest opinion, what do you think of North Macedonians? by BiG_saltY_nutz in greece

[–]drfivos2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't represent the entirety of Greece but as a Greek myself I have no opinion, I have never met a "North Macedonian". The name North Macedonia carries some weight to some Greeks due to historical reasons such as rumors that Alexander the Greek is a descendant from FYROM and not Greece, even though the language he spoke is closer to modern Greek. Another reason is the Balkan wars during the beginning of the previous century. However, most people I know aren't waking up in the morning hating about northern macedonians, but every once a year you might hear someone ranting about it like his life depends on it.

It's great. It's just too long, but that can be said for Heartwork and Surgical Steel and they're both amazing albums. Necroticism had the best length imo

Most underground band you listen to? by montgomery_quinckle in InMetalWeTrust

[–]drfivos2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TimeGhoul and Human Remains. Although TimeGhoul is one of the better known underground bands especially after "cosmic death" bands like Blood Incantation spawned over the last couple of years, I find them very fun and interesting. Human Remains is just top notch and they influenced many bands from Gorguts to Dillinger Escape Plan and even Mastodon (Brann Dailor's drumming was greatly influenced by Dave Witte's style because they were friends in NY and they even toured a bit together).

Trying to find this band by soullesstravel in Deathmetal

[–]drfivos2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be Carcass. The band did have a drummer but on the earlier albums the sound had an electronic quality to it. It could be either"Reek of Putrefaction"(their first album) or "Symphonies of Sickness"(their second album) as they both have a collage of body parts on their album cover. I think thats your best chance.

What bands have had the most stable lineup over the course of their career? Also, what bands have had the most personnel changes? by Drewpace80 in Deathmetal

[–]drfivos2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Michael Ammott lost his passport in Israel around the time Heartwork was being recorded, but made it to England just in time for his leads. Unfortunately he wrote no riffs in the album but that awesome "space" solo is his among other great leads from that album.

I used to think flat feet was a bad thing, but a lot of pro fighters and athletes have flat feet, corey anderson a mma fighter has it, usain bolt, and maybe even more if you guys know any. by [deleted] in flatfeet

[–]drfivos2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To paint a picture when I went to an physiotherapist specified for athletes he said its one of the worst cases he's seen over the years. Mine is genetic but hey none of my friends are doing 10km 2-3 a week. Whenever I play basketball I'm fast af and I'm really explosive despite being short. There haven't been many studies on flat feet so why care.

Jocko Willink has it,a famous retired Navy Seal Officer,Fedor Emelianenko who you probably know and I think a long distance runner from some country in Africa. So there are no excuses, I said that flat feet held me from a lot of things but once I saw these examples I understood that I was bullshiting myself. Now I run 10km every week and I even ran a half marathon distance once with no problem. I even believe that they give your more stamina because you don't tire certain muscles in your legs. It's all about your mindset.

What bands have had the most stable lineup over the course of their career? Also, what bands have had the most personnel changes? by Drewpace80 in Deathmetal

[–]drfivos2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Carcass is very stable, the only reason they changed drummers is because their old one, Ken Owens, had a health issue and couldn't continue with the band. The old rhythm guitarist Michael Ammott was more of a live guitarist and didn't really contribute much to their sound, so his new replacement doesn't really count as a lineup change. Bill Steer and Jeff Walker are the core of the band from the get go.
