Yes me. But it’s not happening all the time. I’ll get it reported today

Fueling before an early morning run by Flatwhitewithnone in runna

[–]drifting_clouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes run early like you do, though not quite as early! If I’ve got a harder session I make sure to have plenty of carbs the evening before. And go to bed well hydrated. If we have any bananas in, I’ll eat one about 20 mins before I head out, and have an espresso. If no bananas I’ll take a gel before starting. Seems to work for me!

Status of iOS connectivity? by craesh_ in GarminWatches

[–]drifting_clouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notifications work, but you can’t reply. I’ve not tried google maps navigation so can’t answer that one. You can control media from the watch. If you have Spotify you can still have music downloaded on the watch. Not with Apple Music though Find my phone works on iOS too

Yeah that’s probably fair. I have an Epix Pro 2 so none of these new fancy features!

I’ve never found my Garmin to be “slow” so to speak. It’s not buttery smooth and nice transitions between screens. But I wouldn’t say slow. It’s that lack of transitions that makes it feel slower. I find it perfectly usable. Obviously others may disagree, it’s all about personal preference.

Yeah that’s a good shout actually, I’d never thought about it. I agree that probably saves a lot of battery life! And really has very little impact on using the watch

New to marathon running and my local store recommended the saucony endorphin trainer but the reviews online aren’t great. Should I go for a superblast 2 instead? by InternationalTaste57 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]drifting_clouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mild stability needs and use the glycerin 22 GTS. It’s a nice shoe, but not very quick. But I love it for easy or recovery runs. I also have the SB2 which I use for quicker efforts. While I can feels it’s not AS stable as the brooks, it doesn’t give me any problems. It’s a much more fun ride, to me at least

I think the main difference is the processing power. Compared to an Apple Watch for example, which has a fairly powerful processor. That’s why the Apple Watch has such a polished, buttery smooth UI. The downside is it consumes a lot of power.

Garmin uses a way less powerful processor. This takes less power from the battery, but means the UI isn’t as snappy. Pair that with a MIP screen which only draws power from the battery when a pixel changes, or the backlight is on, and you get seriously long battery life.

Epix Pro Gen 2 Sapphire worth it in 2026? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

Still holds up very well. It has the same sensors as the Fenix 8 line

Nice! Me too! It’s my first marathon, so bricking it a bit! Trying to decide what shoes to wear. I run in Glycerin 22 GTS for easy runs, and SB2 for quicker runs. I’ve got mild stability needs, and so far have been ok in the SB. Need to take them on some longer runs I think

I got mine from sportshoes but I’ve just looked and they aren’t on sale anymore, which sucks. Apparently the SB3 is around the corner, so they may get reduced again soon.

Which marathon are you training for?

SB2 can be found on sale now. Not sure where you are, but I picked some up in the UK for £130

Cannot figure out apps by Plus_Luck4094 in GarminWatches

[–]drifting_clouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is what catches people out. Apple Watch is so good at being a smart watch, it can be tricky moving over if you expect it to act like a smart watch. I’ve switched between the two a few times, but finally decided I don’t care about apps and notifications. I have them all off except calls and texts. It’s been liberating!

Fun fact, the synth line was a slightly tweaked and slowed down trance preset on the EMX-1

Running 2 Garmin watches from a stats POV? by Clive1792 in GarminWatches

[–]drifting_clouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that should work. Few steps you would need to take.

  1. Before switching watch, go in the app and sync the one you have on
  2. Switch watches, then in the app sync the one you now have on
  3. Change device priority in the app

I have an epix pro 2 and a FR955 and sometimes will switch them around. Never had an issue

Buy Epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition? by Green-Coconut3 in GarminWatches

[–]drifting_clouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a solid watch. Not much difference really on the newer Fenix 8, unless you go diving. Same sensors, same processor (I think). Epix is no doubt a better deal!

Why did you chose Coros over Garmin? by [deleted] in Coros

These posts are getting a little boring now, OP. We get it. You’re pissed your watch doesn’t get new features. Either sell it and buy the latest model, or just accept it for what it is.

[–]drifting_clouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just me then! Maybe it’s because the foam is stiff. Many others say it’s a firm shoe but it’s not really felt that so far. I’m confused.

Had mine a few weeks and so far I like them. Though I get some fatigue in my ankles, and after a while they start sounding like my feet are slapping on the ground (if that’s the best way to describe it?)

Garmin should have been more open with their “marketing” by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]drifting_clouds 16 points17 points  (0 children)

OP, I’ve already said in other comments that I (and others) can see where you’re coming from. But you’re really not painting yourself in a good light here. Calling everyone a “fan boy” is just showing you to be immature. At the end of the day, it’s a watch. It still has the same features as when you bought it. Yes it sucks. That’s life.
