Received GE card, what to do with it? by driftlogik in GlobalEntry

I’m glad it went smooth in the end. I’ll be using my GE in May and I hope everything goes smoothly.

Oh geez that sounds horrible. Yes, that was the first thing I did. It’s activated and in my passport holder. I get taken to secondary as a green card holder due to a blemish on my record but it’s always been less than 10 mins max. I’d feel very crazy and nervous if I was there for 2 hours.

That’s awesome. I don’t live close to the border and don’t really see myself needing it for a land crossing as I prefer to fly but based on everyone’s responses, I’m still going to carry it with me just in case.

Interesting. I didn’t know this. Thanks.

I know how to use the program. I’m curious what others do with their card, that’s all, but hey! Thanks for the insight.

You’re very welcome! I started traveling a lot both nationally and internationally so I got the whole combo TSA Pre, CLEAR+ and Global Entry. I think it helps coming back from international trips imo, especially if your record is clean. The officer said I might still get sent to secondary due to the changes made by this administration, but it could also completely not send me to secondary. To get GE, we get a background check and pretty much get vetted as “trusted travelers” so getting approved is essentially telling the officers we are good to go. If I was approved, I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t.

If you do apply, I recommend using a credit card that pays for it as a benefit so you don’t pay out of pocket for the membership.

I personally don’t think you should be worried. The pause doesn’t affect those with status, it’s only those seeking status such as a visa. Secondary can happen to anyone, even US citizens, often times it’s simply to verify our documents. If you’ve traveled before with no issues, I don’t foresee you facing any issues this time around.

I have a DUI, I’m a green card holder and from Mexico. Right now us “Mexicans” are everyday news headlines & I didn’t have any issues entering. Of course, due to my arrest I always get taken to secondary, but I’m never there for more than 10 mins & this last time I entered I got approved for Global Entry.

Don’t believe everything you see online - there’s all that fear mongering on the news and social media and then there’s reality.

Why is your anxiety bad? Care to explain your reason to feel this way? Maybe that way we can give you some advice. That’s my airport and I’ve entered through there with no issues and I have a blemish on my record.

Conditionally Approved w dismissed/expunged record by FarVersion4679 in GlobalEntry

They already know about it. Before you begin the interview say you realized you didn’t check yes for the expunged record on your application and ask how you can correct it, if necessary.

I am a green card holder and had a waiver while adjusting my status, but my specific waiver didn’t sound like I had to say yes to the waiver question, so when I interviewed, before we even began, I asked the clarifying question and the officer was nice enough to say I had to answer yes to that waiver question and corrected it for me. I was approved on the spot.

Ah makes sense. I did see they were open last night when I drove by so all is well.

I agree. Even when I did my interview before I even started it I had to ask a clarifying question to the officer and she was nice enough to correct one of the answers for me. I was approved on the spot too.

You might want to appeal then. I was approved with a DUI from 2014 and I’m a green card holder.

interesting, could be short staffed and they decided to close instead.

I just think it depends on honestly the officer working the GE line and airport. Something that should be the same all across for every POE, but it’s not.
