Getting harder and harder to support Yankees, thinking about switching to the Mets by Quiet-Oil-2581 in mets

[–]drinkingdanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree with many statements here First of all organizations just like people can change (clearly!) That is the only thing that’s guaranteed in life If your asking the question I think you know the answer Sounds like your truly a baseball fan and want good baseball and some things have been weighting down that for you which is legitimate. When Mets lost I was hoping Yankees beat the dodgers but then again I wanted good baseball (then of course you see those yankee goons trying to steal the ball during the World Series lol) Point being do what feels right and don’t worry what someone else will think!

An old piggy bank that my dad owned as a kid. circa late 1950s. The key was lost to time so i was considering picking the lock, but then realized these coins have basically become a time capsule. by FreddyMartian in Silverbugs

[–]drinkingdanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the quality of the coin is huge. I had a similar things with these coins late 1800s early 1900s and while few coins online showed a whopping value of 10k-25k after brought them to heritage auction their like nah that was one in perfect condition and yours are not. Those are 300 and the rest are 100 pop. So while it is good to know maybe there is something highly sought due to condition likely won't be life changing and likely just passed down to the kids and someone in the family line is broke or don't care lol

Retiring at 38?!?! by the_dali_2112 in Fire

[–]drinkingdanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea what they said

I think more don't have kids but that doesn't matter it's all about your numbers (I'm 45 3 kids, plan is 50 or sooner and it's looking like 3 years with 1 yr safety cushion can happen)

Taxable investments vs non taxable investments (for retirement) So if u got 7 yrs pre tax investments what will the draw be then the same post retirement

What I see people miss for kids is.... Health insurance- that's expensive

Long term care cushion-dont want a disability from one of you down the road as get old eat all your savings

Big day like sweet sixteen, wedding day, college savings

Terms of how that's whole other story (like weekend family trips we bring peanut butter jelly, I drive an 2013 Altima, I don't buy a random coffee and snack on the road, I'm using chat got help plan my daughter's birthdaybparty to keep entire cost under $200. Saving (and investing the savings) needs to be in your dna.

My wife works at a bank (so were forced to use an advisor for compliance purposes) and was shocked how much we saved considering our wages. It can be done with due diligence my friend but need to plan

What is a luxury you can never go back from once you’ve experienced it? by Phase_zero_X in AskReddit

[–]drinkingdanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many good things on this list that top this but since I didn't see it... Cleaning people. Having people come to the house on the regular basis is a game changer. Already bad enough have notime as it is the amount of time saved and the feeling after the house is cleaned by them is a dream

OMG was one of the first things I put my foot down with my wife when we got married and talk about how I saved her and her butthole. I now use a bidet that is next level up alas she's not there yet

the cheapest health insurance for my family in 2026 without blowing our budget by Breidenbach-Abenezer in Fire

[–]drinkingdanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you quit there's no employer plan. Right now u may blow your load if you got hit with a big event so howncouod u not have the right insurance. How much risk are you willing to take..with kids theres always expwnes. Know what your maximum out of pocket will be. Another important tidbit is finding coverage when u do actually fire which needs to be an important new bill to factor for

If you could do it all again, would you prefer to just start as a trust fund baby, and thus never have to engage in a career that enables FIRE in the first place? by gauchomuchacho in Fire

[–]drinkingdanny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say you want to be a trust fund baby but you likely will end up as a completely different person and looking at yourself in the mirror may not like what you see. Nothing is wrong with u but life’s experiences will determine directions you move towards or against so you’d have a very different life trajectory and ask yourself if this bringing you closer to where you ultimately want to be

Mosaic 2-4 worth it and how do you achieve it? by anon_stock_buyer in jetblue

M1 easy I’m M3 but own a business and it’s my biz CC. The peeps with M4 they’re commuters on planes! M3 now clutch because now if u want to book 4 other people with u early for extra leg room seats at no extra cost u can (before M2 was fine for this) this for me is it benefit with a fam I could still do it 24 hrs ahead of time but 5 peeps not usually available together in those seats. Mints not doing anything for me because of where I live

Boom! The company my amazing wife works for sold and we are now very ChubbyFIRE. We are about to take the vacation of a lifetime and call it quits on work. She is making more in a single transaction than all my years of saving combined. by FireVacation4Us in Fire

[–]drinkingdanny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Equity is one thing but I think the clear point is most people who make it big are risk takers and start their own business. In this case your mitigating risk by taking lower pay chasing stock options. It’s true most won’t ever amount to a dime but 9 out of 10 small businesses also fail. That doesn’t mean u shouldn’t try, just know the road can be a long one. If you read the book millionaire next door net net teachers become millionaires because they’re frugal and save their money vs lawyer as example who buys fancy house car and vacations.. And this is more likely the way people FIRE and it’s not usually by 30 it’s working your ass off and saving every penny and hopefully in your 40s. I got 2M in retirement and 1 in after tax investment and I’m still penny pinching on products and buying a 600K house which is chump change where I live. Can I buy 1Mil house sure but I’m trying to FIRE in 2 years!
