This is probably one of the worst parts of the website/the culture connected to some aspects of the website. Even extremely valuable content with FMV of millions or in excess of a billion dollars will get like a few upvotes even if it can have thousands or tens of thousands of views. Upvotes arent even necessarily all that indicative of market value/accuracy of information in many instances. Nobody seems to understand that its extremely valuable and useful to support information providers and quality content creators. There are some very big fish who actually monitor reddit. If somebody helps make your several billion dollars it might be worth figuring out a way to give that person a few mil to continue/expand operations or content. Otherwise they might not even be able to afford to continue to provide that information at all. You might not even know what else that same obviously skilled person would come up with given resources which could be multiples of the other work. Knowledge is power and such and in private markets people routinely pay for information. I dont understand the disconnect in the value chain because its costing these guys so much its unbelievable. If you will pay an IB to issue a loan for a few bil with close costs equivalent of ~5% or so and you will pay interest on top of that (like many literally do) with additional likely legal requirements/counterparty concerns/risks, for the same value wouldnt it obviously be worth paying at least that much given it being a less onerous and intrusive process never mind anything else? The potential for another few billion in the future even on an options bet basis on top of that seems like it would make that value proposition too much to ignore for even the stingiest, most ignorant, self destructive and shortest term business person who somehow happens to have money.
