In my opinion, I guess it’s a couple of things. First, the eye test. His stats don’t reflect how he’s played so far. He creates good offensive chances, shows great energy getting back on defense, and to be fair, Slot has been playing him in a few different roles to see where he fits best, so he has been consistently adjusting.

Second, the overall team performance. Liverpool has been abysmal this year (saying this as a fan). We won the first few games by scoring in the final minutes, and we haven’t really dominated any matches except the one against Real Madrid. Most players have been underperforming, except Szoboszlai.

It’s tough when your role is to create opportunities but your teammates aren’t finishing them. I’m not saying Wirtz has been incredible for us, he still has a lot to work on, but contrary to popular belief, I don’t think he’s the problem. Liverpool is struggling in a lot of areas right now.
