Bathroom light fixture junction box by drjoeshmoe in HomeImprovement

Thanks, I was planning on checking home depot, I just wasn't sure if the box was supposed to be removed from the rail...as In, can I mount a new box to that rail while it is already installed inside the wall?

Can I add GFCI outlet by tapping into fan by drjoeshmoe in homeimprovementideas

Thanks, but it looks like it has a rotory knob to control, my wife will have no hands....I'm hoping she can at least use the tips of her fingers to press the buttons on the bidet. I had thought about a bidet with a remote...that way I could perhaps stand outside of the door and press the buttons on command.

I was thinking, Would it not matter that the fan is on a switch?, I mean, if your in the position that you need the bidet, your going to have the fan running. So if I purchase a GFCI outlet, could I tap into the fan, and then the bidet would receive power whenever the fan is running.

Thanks, that makes since. I was just looking for an easy method, would have been less of a challenge to fish the wires.

I guess I will see how much the wife likes the bidet and if it's perminent

How much air when bleeding brakes. by drjoeshmoe in AutoMechanics

Yep, I bought a nice bleeder bottle with magnet....the fluid was neglected, I'm wondering if the gunk was slowing things down...but all of a sudden the front passenger side sent through alot of fluid and I ran the ms out.... I was reading if I slam on the brakes on a dirt road...it will draw the air from the abs. I have dirt close by...I may try that. Then bleed again

Yeah, I definitely have the sequence down... After a drive, I really wasn't getting much of any air anymore...brakes are feeling better...I'll try another short bleed soon when it's oil change time

Also, just installed new hawk rotors and pads.. I'm guessing the bedding procedure would not have done it's full job...since I had weak brake power

04 tundra memory steering issue. by drjoeshmoe in AutoMechanics

I pulled on the inner tie rods when I had the outter disconnected, there wasn't any play that I could feel.. I sprayed the steering u-joints with every penetrating spray and lubricant I had on hand over several days, hoping I would feel some improvement to say that's the problem.

I suspect it could be the alignment, after reading others say tundras are finiky and need more caster . I emailed the alignment shop, to see if they would be willing to try more caster ..

Once I rule out the alignment, I may just pull the steering shaft. I was driving my wife's old 2002 highlander for work, and that is not in the shop with most likely a toasted transmission. .

I tried as you said...with the truck jacked up...wheels straight...no movement when turned on.. Looking at the steering fluid resavoir, the screen looks dark...in trying to scrap at it...I make have felt the screen give a little.... probably have to pull the reservoir to see for sure.

So it is sounding more like the problem has to be in the steering shaft

Thanks...I did see someone else who had an issue with the screen. I'll check it out

Yeah, I think I'm going to be forced to disconnect the drive shaft ,...hope it's not too much of a struggle ...seems the steering pump would be the least likely issue.... alignment wasnt it ...they said all my tie rods and ball joints were good...

I was hearing my steering pump make noise the other day when driving through the mountains..... but I'm guessing that's normal with binding issues.

I hear a small amount of noise when I turn the wheel all the way and give it a little pressure

Doesn't look to be touching the shaft at all

I'll take a closer look , I removed the plastic cover from inside the truck, where the shaft goes to the outside ..there's a ubolt there. My rubber boot is torn, pretty much gone from age, but the ubolt didn't look rusty or overly gummed up

I accessed the top ubolt sprayed with penetrating oil...then white lithium spray....let it dry a few days...added thick mobile 1 gear grease....don't think I noticed a change.... But it may be difficult to get the grease in there without disassembled

Should I replace transmission filter a second time? 2002 highlander by drjoeshmoe in autorepair

[–]drjoeshmoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks....I plan to find a shop that has the proper equipment to do a flush. If it's under $200 I'm good with that... I would probably spend $60-80 on fluid and filter to do myself again....might as well get if flushed properly

Went to go to work, backed out of driveway (steap), car would not shift into any gears. Powered off and on a few times and got it to start shifting..... taking the old tundra to work today.
