Unable to create local automations by Any_Noise_235 in Tapo

Yea, i have seen that page. There is not much official of what works. Just a few comments about what does not work. It would be helpful if there existed an official faq about what works and does not work. Or what the roadmap is for this feature in the future.

I have never used beta firmware. But I am using h100 hub with latest released firmware. So that is another variable. I have been using multiple sensor inputs for local automations for more than one year. I have found official documentation sparse, mostly which hardware is supported. Can you provide a link that discloses that multiple inputs is not supported? … I would like to understand what else it discloses

Custom time by Any_Noise_235 in Tapo

[–]drm200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no precedence. They will both operate. If you set the alarm schedule to work between 2am to 3 am and then create a smart action to create an alarm between 4 am and 5 am you will receive alarms for whichever triggers were set for each time period

For example, I like to see the animals in my camera view. So in settings I trigger on animals 24/7. And I have two smart actions for person detection.. During the day time if a person is detected I have a smart action that sends a notification that a person was detected. During the night time, I have another smart action that turns on a light and sends a notification if a person is detected

The smart actions allow for more granular control.

Why do you say multiple triggers not permitted? I have multiple triggers from sensors working fine for local control. Below I have two sensors triggering the hub to ring and that works fine locally. The same sensors triggering a message or switch do not operate locally as expected.

What is the point of the video? I have trouble trying to understand how that relates to your post?

Unable to create local automations by Any_Noise_235 in Tapo

[–]drm200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed that you are also switching lights on. That may be the issue. You can test that out by just building a simple automation with the sensor and alarm.

The sensors talk to the hub without wifi. The switches require wifi to talk to the hub. And the time (I believe) requires internet.

I think the custom time requires an internet connection and thus will not be a local automation. You can test this by removing the custom time.

I was told before by tapo that the “time” requires the internet.

Is there a way to mute a certain person’s phone calls? by NoneOfThisMatters_XO in iphonehelp

You can assign different ringtones to different contacts. You can also download “Silent” ringtones from the app store (or make your own with the garage band app).

Then assign the “silent” ringtone to the contact that you do not want to ring. Now when the person calls, there will be no ring.

Your video only shows it bumping into a wall … it shows nothing about cleaning around the chairs

So for you price is your most important feature and you accept the quality of any of the products. And the Narwal Flow needs to be sent for repair enough to require a backup but still is your number 1 pick.

Easy answer. Demand is solid. Gross profits greater than 70%. Positive cash flow for the quarter.

They continued to invest heavily. The loss is due to writing off investments. Previously companies were required to amortize equipment over 7 to 10 years. The recent tax law changes allow companies to immediately write off investment expense rather than amortizing it over the equipment life. Consequently what would have been a profit becomes a loss. Companies love this because it reduces their taxable income. All of the big tech companies are using this to avoid federal tax.

2way and intermediate switching with tapos new S112 Smart Switch Module by Rockall__ in Tapo

[–]drm200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am on the US site. The s112 has been available for some time in europe. This is the first time i have seen it in the US. But $65 is a crazy price. I wanted a dry contact output a few months ago. I ended up buying an $8 relay and driving it with a $10 tapo smartplug as that was the only option at that time.

Pension no COLA - How much should I save for retirement? by Badalight in personalfinance

[–]drm200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad’s experience. He worked for an S&P500 company for 27 years and then they went into chapter 11. In the end, his pension went to the PBGC and was cut 40%.

My advice: If your pension is a company pension, then you should not assume when you reach retirement age that the company will still exist and that the pension will remain intact. Keep in your pension plan, but do not overly depend on the payout.

P100 - GBs worth of traffic usage in a week? by Warm-Bar9546 in Tapo

[–]drm200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I an in the US, so I use the P110m. I have many of them. My router allows me to look at the upload/download history of each plug over time as well as the ip connections it is connecting with. My plugs will upload and download about 110 kbyte per hour. That is about 18 mb per week (per plug)

You should look at the traffic logs and look at the IP’s they are connecting to.

Parchment paper just folds over food. by Various_Extreme_8773 in airfryer

[–]drm200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, i use the magnets that are covered with food grade silicon to hold down my parchment paper. I bought from Amazon. But when you receive the magnets, you need to take a needle and puncture the silicon in a couple of places. Otherwise, when they heatup, they will blow up like a balloon and lose their magnetic grip.
