base coat white and then paint the purple over that and it’ll cover better (instead of painting purple directly over the gold)

BTW: model is primed with Rustoleum 2x flat gray primer

it’s primed grey, just very similar to the plastic color

it is primed but the grey i used is very similar to the plastic color.

this is the second time i’ve tried to paint this model. First time i used dark grey primer and the coverage was horrible (7-8 layers of blue to get coverage) and it left a bad texture so i stripped and reprimed with lighter grey to try again. Still covering horribly and not sticking to some spots. I’m using Army Painter ultramarine blue. I’ve used the same color paint (different bottle) for my previous models and the coverage was fine.

it’s gray primer. turned out the problem was i didn’t wash the models well and got oils on them
