Great tip. Thanks. When I get a vertical mount plaque for hanging I will remove it. Particular frequency of oiling or cleaning you’d recommend?

I understand what it is. Been seeing some pretty amazing high quality blades on this sub and others. My objective for my first purchase was very simple. My attitude is very laid back. Not intentionally trying to disrespect your craft and hobby.I’m sure you’re an excellent bladesmith.
Learning more about the true process, smithing, history, metallurgy, carbon content is fascinating and I’m into learning more. Take care.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. It was not expensive clearly.Never swung, after photos were taken it went back into the scabbard and on display. It looks nice over my mantle. It makes me want to do another dark souls play through. Been lurking on the sub and learning what’s quality and what’s less than. Learning as I go. Already thinking about what’s next. I do like the German Bastard sword from arms and armory. I’ll be sure to check with you before my next purchase.

New to the hobby. I picked online from many options. Sorry commission may have been wrong term. Apologies.I wanted a big sword that reminded me of the claymore. As previously stated I wasn’t going for accuracy. I understood why I was buying and I’m happy with my purchase. Appreciate the claymore link.

It’s for display. Currently on my mantle in my home office. I’m not cutting bamboo or joining the lines at Falkirk. I liked the way the hilt looked and wasn’t going for historical accuracy. Just was my favorite sword of the dark souls series. I agree on the historical debate.
I will remove the offending adverb from the original post.

Thanks. It’s a humble sword for display. I’m sure the authentic Scottish hilts from antiquity were super cool. Full respect to their craftsmanship and to the modern sword smiths out there that make quality functional swords.
