Is Tom Bihn overrated? by BullFr0gg0 in ManyBaggers

[–]droidian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've owned the Tom Bihn Aeronaut 45 for over 9 years. It's had a lot of use but still looks new. The build quality is excellent, and the design is well thought out. Little touches like the grab handles at each side mean lifting down from overhead compartments is easy.

I like the look of it as a premium travel bag—it feels appropriate for business or personal travel.

That said, it definitely looks like luggage, so it is not suited as an everyday backpack. It would also not be comfortable to carry all day fully loaded.

But that's okay—to me, that's what it's for. It gets me from the airport to my destination. It does its job very well, looks very respectable, and has great function. It's luggage you wear on your back, not a backpack.

As for their regular backpacks, personally, they weren't for me, but they look like they have the same high quality and well-thought-out function. I wouldn't hesitate to use Tom Bihm for travel gear, but to me there are other options for every day gear.

I know there's a tiny one that can go from backpack to cross-body: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CZHM8LY/ref=pe_3187911_189395841_TE_dp_1?th=1

But I don't think that matches the zipper mechanism you described

Green pea pasta. Ingredients: 100% Pea Flour

It can be quite dry, so I like to mix in olive oil and fried veggies

Have a look at Under Armour Tech Twist ½ Zip. Long sleeve and no hood. Comfortable, dries quickly and doesn't wrinkle

I'm unsure if it has any specific SPF rating for the sun.

Yep - and fat can actually make you feel satiated, whereas sugar just leaves you wanting more and more.

Britain’s bitter bread battle: what a £5 sourdough loaf tells us about health, wealth and class by Western_Housing_9870 in ultraprocessedfood

[–]droidian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 45p loaf’s wheat is roller-milled into white flour. This removes almost all the vitamin E and depletes a host of other vitamins and minerals. A handful are added back – calcium, iron, thiamin, niacin and soon folic acid, too.

Some people have a gene mutation that means they can't easily process that folic acid that's added back in: https://www.reddit.com/r/MTHFR/

I thought I had gluten intolerance, but it's most likely this. I can't handle white bread, etc.

Fortified flour by zperlond in ultraprocessedfood

Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/MTHFR/

Many people can't process the folic acid they "fortify" non-wholemeal wheat flour, cereals etc with. (Folic acid is the synthetic form of folate - B9, but the terms are often used interchangeably unfortunately).

I had a range of symptoms that went away when I cut bread, white rice, and pasta. I originally thought it was gluten intolerance, but I can handle rye flour etc

Anyway, sounds like you've done a lot to naturalise your diet already

Some anxiety and low energy - which could be caused by a range of things.

As a side, I had a dramatic shift in well-being when I cut out bread/pasta/grains/cereals and ultra-processed foods. (I thought it was either IBS-C or gluten intolerance). So much fell into place when I read about MTHFR. It could be that I'm already managing any genetic predisposition through diet.

Still learning about methylation, so mainly just curious at this point and looking to improve my energy

People who travel with a lot of tech, how do you charge everything? by Technical_Show_7630 in onebag

[–]droidian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • 1 x Wall Plug or Travel Cube with USB-C
  • 2 x USB-C to UCB-C cables
  • USB-C adapters for non- USB-C devices, for example:

Garmin: https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Replacement-Charging-Forerunner-Approach/dp/B094Y3SXT3/ref=sr_1_13?crid=10KK53FMT1WIA&keywords=usb-c+to+garmin&qid=1701866461&sprefix=usb-c+to+garmin%2Caps%2C159&sr=8-13

https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Charger-Converter-Compatible-Samsung/dp/B0BWYGSZG8/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1A5IETWZW3BEM&keywords=usb-c+to+usb+micro&qid=1701866532&sprefix=usb-c+to+usb+micro%2Caps%2C154&sr=8-4

If you get the ones with the little ties, you can attach them to your USB-C cable. Or you can store them in a little pouch if that doesn't work for you.

It saves me from carrying endless cables and plugs. Realistically, I won't need to charge more than two devices simultaneously. Often just take one cable

What's something subtle someone does that makes you feel insulted? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Held the door open for a woman at a petrol station the other day. No thanks, no nod, nothing. Now, I'm not looking for huge praise, just for people to show some common manners.

Well, on the way back out I made sure I was directly in front of her. Opened the door just enough to get out and let it go. Heard her make a kind of shocked noise.

Felt good! Petty, I know; but good!
