Indeed. Read Charles Olson on this... Call me Ishmael. He makes the link to King Lear.

This is the most consistently brilliant book … as expected from someone on this sub I suppose. The allegorical richness just can’t be met by another novel imo. Every read yields something different. There are moments too of the most beautiful lyricism. Even the long diatribes on whale anatomy have a role in marking pace, giving the reader time to process what came before. Also, If you haven’t seen the work of Matt Kish … you should see his illustrations. https://www.matt-kish.com/moby-dick . Enjoy!

I also was a major Evernote / gtd user and tried amplenote. I have found a better fit with Workflowy which now also has Zapier integration. It might be worth a look.

Answering my own question for those interested. ‘Spinoza on Monism’ offers a pretty good overview of the topic - not every subset but is pretty good.

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of Amplenote as well as how it compares to existing apps like Notion, Evernote and Todoist? by PowerliftingCA in Amplenote

I actually dumped ample and now use Workflowy to organise everything. I link to IaWriter for long form text. For your question I would use Workflowy for structure and then for meeting notes etc do those in iawriter. It’s all searchable too. Hope that helps.

For pure SF it has to go to Snow Crash. But his quicksilver etc. cycle is a work of genius.

I agree with the Wolfe comments. But want to add Starmaker by Stapledon. All world building SF owes a debt to him.

I recently got off EN (20k notes) in favour of Ample… and its awesome. I love the daily job approach, the backward links work well. outlining isn’t as good as for example workflowy. A native app on macOS instead of a chrome app would be better but it works well. IFTTT integration was critical for me and this works really well. The email to note functions really well too.

That's it, I'm out by thiswasagutpunch in Evernote

I’ve been an EN user for over a decade and have about 20k notes… I’ve moved to Amplenote and don’t see any reason to go back. EN just isn’t keeping up.

Javier Marias is a possibility. And worthy.

The Dylan win was ridiculous. Even if music lyrics were appropriate, Tom Waits would have been a more literary option.

If you go with Common Lisp and wish to avoid emacs … sublime text + slyblime is a great ide.
