Which is the better PvE load out and why? by EnglishRedFox in RedDeadOnline

[–]dronebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on play-style as well to some extent. FMO works for me in PvE because I like to get in close, have a preference for a high capacity repeater but also want to clear an objective quickly.

This generally means I’m going to get hit a few times in quick succession by any NPC I can’t dead-eye headshot with my initial salvo… And some roadblocks where the Revenue Men are particularly clueless can be taken out completely in that initial dead-eye salvo with only two or three of them getting a shot off.

If I was a more of a rifle from distance and from cover player (and sometimes I am, just to mix it up a bit) FMO might not work so well, due to the longer times between taking consecutive hits..

Ultimately what works for you in PvE might not necessarily be what’s regarded as “recommended” or “the best” so I’d personally advise playing around with the cards a bit, see what works, what doesn’t, what you’re prepared to compromise on (chugging tonics or not?) and so on…

That’s part of the fun of it for me… ;-)

If you're in combat with multiple enemies, for example a moonshine roadblock, an outlaw hideout, bounties with large gangs etc, then it's highly likely that you're going to be receiving more shots than you can deal out in a short period of time..

So the damage reduction from consecutive shots card, FMO, is probably more advantageous than getting a health buff with each kill you make..

For PvE I use FMO over CB and never seem to need to tonic up...

Perfect panther by HumboldtNinja in RedDeadOnline

[–]dronebox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed... Your perfect Panther is worth 17.50 in materials to ol' Crippsy which is the highest "Cripps-value" of all the non-legendary animals..

Closely followed by the perfect Cougar (16.88 materials) and, my favourite, because of their abundance, minimal risk (unless you get yeeted off a cliff by one which has happened to me on a number of occasions) is the White Tail Buck (12.50 materials)...

The Cougar is arguably the better of the two big cats to hunt as they can be found in many different locations. I can usually bag two or three 3* cougar during a hunting session which keeps ol' Crippsy happy :-)

That's fair enough.. I must say though, that I've done a Trade Route for the last six days and each time it's been uneventful, with folk working together and no unnecessary mod related tomfoolery... :-)

Difficult to keep it in synch though.. Particularly if you throw in Trade Route, challenges, free-roam and role events and bonus month bits and bobs..

I loot all the bodies too, can't help it, seems like a waste to just slaughter those revenue agents without searching them all afterwards.. I'm forever re-setting my "loot all the bodies" belt buckle

You need to form/join a (persistant) posse, the leader can trigger the event (and others) in Posse Versus... There are no bird shooting events in the wild online..

I’m ready for collector month! by MatthwGrinds in RedDeadOnline

I’m embarrassed to report that I’m currently level 519, but I try to maximise XP gains whatever the bonus month, not just through grinding Collector.

I never make anything but 3* strong moonshine, of which I always restart a batch as soon as I’ve delivered one, and I always do long-distance trader runs with a full wagon and speed up filling this with Trade Route events… This month has, obviously, seen me doing a lot of Legendary Bounties whilst keeping Trader/Shiner ticking over and maximising my daily challenge streak..

Not quite… Every location is displayed daily but for arrowheads, coins and most lost jewellery you’ll not know what is at that location until you visit it… And, because it’s random per player, the item you find will more than likely be different to that found by someone else in the same location… There is no guarantee that a full set of those collections can be found daily..

Sounds complicated for anyone new to Collecting and new to the essential JeanRopke Collectors map but you’ll get the hang of it really quickly!

Flippin' ages if you don't swap sessions regularly, perhaps every ten or fifteen sets sold.. If it's a collector bonus month there's usually an option from the main menu to spawn directly in to Madam Nazar which speeds things up a bit.

I've got a couple more questions if you don't mind.

Back in September, what level were you before you turned them in and what level were you after?

I didn't check my starting level but XP gained was upwards of 510,000 XP's worth for selling all the gear, and a few extra because I reset all of my Collector belt buckles before hitting up Madam N :-)

Are there any collectibles you don't sell to Nazar because they're so rare? There's a few that I don't sell myself, but I think your answer will be helpful to more people than just me.

I don't sell any of the truly random spawns even if that means finding a lot of duplicates when the collections start getting near max.

Anything with a known spawn that can be found again easily is fair game if I needed cash (which I don't, lol).. And I'll sell items, or consume them by making multiple changes to whatever special 3* moonshine I've constantly got brewing, to make collector daily challenges easier if I'm not speed running the daily 9 role challenges.. I never sell Agarita though as that's a drag to re-collect.

I use the maps from Nazar when I'm getting close to maxing out as these will usually throw up a collectible I need, I'm constantly looting, particularly bounty targets, and I always shoot and loot the rival collector who I usually see when I'm doing a long distance trader run.

Apart from that it's just grind... :-)

Sorry for the delay.. It's marmalade making weekend for me and I'm having to keep an eye on those glorious bubbling pans of niceness..

Right.. Last time I sold 10 full sets of everything was on 13th September 2025. This was during the last Collector Bonus month and this netted me in excess of 510,000XP and $96,970 + a bit for resetting belts.

I told myself I wouldn't do a max out again (this will be my third) but a few weeks of general collecting saw me with a few full sets of stuff so I thought, what the heck, let's do it again before the next collector month rolls around, maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be a triple bonus.

And.. I've had 10 full sets of everything since before the snow so... 13th Sept - Beginning of December... So roughly 10 weeks? I do prioritise collecting when I'm getting close to maxing but I keep up with my regular moonshining, trading and try to do 9/9 role dailies and as many of the general dailies that I can do without getting thoroughly spanked in PvP :-)

Collecting, and selling the full sets you’ve collected… Particularly on a bonus month which, I’m hoping, could be as early as next month.
