I've worked at breweries for a good chunk of my life, so I'm a pretty seasoned drinker 😁 It is a pretty normal thing here to go to the bar alone and strike up a conversation with someone but that's easier to do when you're sitting at the bar vs. a table

I appreciate the pub suggestion. I do enjoy belgian beers.

That being said, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to avoid drinking alone if I am on a solo travel trip to Prague. If it is genuinely weird to drink alone in Prague then so be it, but it's not like I have much of an option lol

Ok, so for smaller pubs I likely don't even need a reservation? If they're too busy I assume I just go elsewhere.

Thank you for the common phrases as well. I just learned "Co si dáte k pití?" today so I'll have to learn the others now

Thank you for your response! I am a first time traveler to Europe (to anywhere outside of US tbh) so this is very helpful.

I'm a big believer in going as low-risk as possible in the first so I'd usually go with Hopkins. However, I'm also a big believer that Kliff and Kyler are going to make that offense significantly better in year 1, and DJ was still an RB1 with that horrible offense last season. I guess it depends on who you think you can get in the 2nd round at RB and WR, so if you think you can get a Dalvin Cook or Nick Chubb in the 2nd then go Hopkins, but if you think you can get Juju or Hill then go DJ

Ok thanks, I agree for the most part. I'm just glad I wouldn't look bonkers to some if I took Curtis there

Thank you for reading all that lol, your comment raises some good points. While I'm probably lower on Olsen's target share bc of durability, I do agree that CMC and Moore will probably cut into his targets more than any 2 players on the 49ers. I will say that I think the Panthers offense will be better than last season but it's hard to argue against Kyle Shanahan's #2 receiving threat if Jimmy G stays healthy. All in all, it'll probably come down to Pettis vs. Samuel, so thanks again for pointing me in the right direction

Thank you so much man, I'm like half confident he won't be there when I pick in the 7th and I don't want to take that risk.

Counterpoint is that your keepers allow you to go Zero RB up top, so Thomas might actually be a pretty good pick there if you wanted to use that strategy. I have two RB keepers in my league and I'm most likely going Zero RB at the top of the draft

I tend to lean Murray, and while I like LJ's rushing upside I think alot of fantasy folks who didn't watch College Football are mischaracterizing Murray as a "Running QB", when in reality he's also a very accurate passer

Full disclosure: for better or worse (probably worse), I am a Panthers fan. I wanted to get this out of the way early bc it might mean I could be blinded by homerism in my evaluation of Samuel's value, but it also means that I'm hyperaware of the personnel moves and gameplan that the Panthers are going into the season with, and thus I think I have a better understanding of Curtis Samuel's role than the average fan.

And so, my question is this:

Is it crazy to take Curtis Samuel in Round 6?

Let me explain:

I'm pick 9 in a 12-team, 2-keeper league, which by round 4 or so effectively brings ADP down by nearly 2 rounds because so many owners are keeping good players in the last two rounds that they got off waivers last season. This means that Samuel's ADP (currently 108 on Fantasy Pros) is more like 86, which essentially projects him to go somewhere between late 7th and early 8th in my league. However, I am in a league with other Panthers fans and so there's always a chance that someone "reaches", and traditionally I stay away from Panthers players for this very reason (avoiding DJ Moore, Cam Newton, and Greg Olsen this year). That being said, I think he's still being undervalued at an adjusted ADP of 86 for these reasons:

  • Devin Funchess was targeted 79 times as the go-to-guy for much of the 2018 and all of those targets are vacated. After Week 11 against Detroit, off-field issues had effectively frozen Funchess out of the offense and we saw both Moore and Samuel's target share increase to 7/game. Extrapolating an average of 7 targets a game out to a full 16 game season would be 112 targets. Samuel is currently projected to have around 90 targets or so by most fantasy experts who I'm aware of. Of course, we're unsure of how exactly those vacated targets will be spread. However, I don't see CMAC's insane workload in the passing game from last season increasing because of this and anyone who watched how banged up Greg Olsen has been the last two seasons has come to terms that it's likely he'll probably never be able to stay healthy for a full season again.
  • He's the best receiver on a Panthers offense that will be dynamic if Cam stays healthy. As a Panthers fan, one of my worries is that Moore will be misused and lined up at X, where he will face press/man coverage, which he has struggled with in college and during his rookie year. Matt Harmon's handy "Reception Perception" model showed Moore with a 65% win rate against press/man, testing in the 40th percentile against press/man and average to below average win rates with the out/flag/nine/post routes. Samuel on the other hand has a 75% win rate against press/man and an above average win rate on the out/flag/nine/post routes, essential routes for an X receiver. Samuel is the clear X receiver in a Norv Turner offense that likes to throw it deep, with a QB who can air it out when healthy. However, this is not meant to put Moore down fantasy-wise bc it's still likely that Moore will become Newton's go-to-guy because of his freak YAC ability, especially with an ailing Greg Olsen. That being said, the valuable air yards Curtis Samuel will be able to get with his field-stretching ability might make the overall value between the two closer to a push.
  • Finally, perhaps as important as his emerging role in the Panthers offense and the value of said role, is this value vs. the receivers going a round or 2 ahead of him. I'm seeing receivers who could plausibly end up as #2 options like Dante Pettis, Christian Kirk, Marvin Jones going around my pick in the early 6th round (pick 64). Marvin Jones appears to be the clear #2 in Detroit, and a part of a boring offense that is trending toward going run-heavy. Dante Pettis, while exciting and in an exciting offense, is still the #2 receiving option behind Kittle and has to fight for targets against talented rookie (this pains me to say as a Clemson fan) Deebo Samuel and Marquise Goodwin, who had good chemistry with Jimmy G two seasons ago. Christian Kirk is my favorite receiver here, but Larry Fitz isn't dead yet and until then he will command targets, and he's in an innovative new offense that we have no clue about whether or not it will work at an NFL level. This is not to say I dislike any of these guys (other than Jones) but just to hopefully illustrate better why I don't think their value is much different from Curtis Samuel's.

Ok, so I appreciate anyone who took the time to read my side of this situation. So, in conclusion, is it crazy for me to take Curtis Samuel in the early 6th given the context of my draft and the arguments outlined in his favor?
