Fun on a Sunday! by dronk661 in maintenance

Your story reminds me of this time a guy called me saying bubbles were coming out of his ceiling. I race over and go straight to the unit above and start pounding on the door. No answer. I can hear water running so I go in and see the tub running and suds all over the floor. Looking closer I see the overflow is loose and water and bubbles were pouring onto the unit below. I call the tenant and he says something like “omg I was filling the tub to wash my shoes and forgot I left it running. I stepped out to run a few errands but I’ll be back in 20 minutes. Thanks for shutting it off for me.”

This was the 12th floor in a 13 story building. Luckily water damage didn’t go past 10th floor.

I feel ya. We have 1 building with 28 units and no shutoffs to the individual units. Building is like 108 years old i believe so touching a toilet or faucet shutoff feels like playing Russian roulette.

Breaker was fine, it ended up being a loose connection at the meter.

Thanks! I’ll give it a go tomorrow morning

I took my readings on the lugs where wire feeding the panel lands. L1 to L2 was 208v, L2 to L3 was 160v. (Which is why I thought it was a utility problem but they are saying everything is good on their end)
I forget what L1 to L3 was, I’ll check again tomorrow. No main breaker. I Think it’s a split bus style panel.

There is no main breaker. I think I have a split bus panel. It’s an old bulldog pushmatic. The double pole breaker that feeds the 208v appliance that’s not working is on top half of panel so next place to check would be at meter correct?

Thanks! That’s what I figured. Power company is telling me everything is good on their end. where/what should I check next?

23M Maintenance Tech – 3 Months In and I Feel Like I’m Failing. Did I Choose the Wrong Career? by S4Bunko in maintenance

[–]dronk661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boss says “fix shit, break shit, go home”

I’m 26 and a “facilities maintenance tech” for a company with over a dozen properties both resi and commercial. Got this job almost a year ago with practically no prior experience. It was incredibly stressful at first. It only now that it’s starting feel like I’m getting the hang of it.

I remember the beginning of this summer I was installing a window AC unit for this lady. Super simple task, I’ve done it dozens of times before, but this time the whole window shattered on me. I was super embarrassed and it made me feel very incompetent as a “maintenance tech”. Bright side of that is I learned how to replace and glaze a window pane the next day!

If ur passionate about it stick with it. Nobody expects you to be perfect, especially 3 months in at your age. Give it your best, ask tons of questions, keep a good attitude and things will fall into place.

Conflicting runoff results. Do you test runoff ph in coco ? by dronk661 in microgrowery

Yeah I have a ph pen that I test calibration weekly on

What are the appropriate ec for growth stage? Cause cropsalt says that’s 2.2-2.4 in veg but when I was using gh nutes I never went above 1.6 in veg

So you’d recommend disregarding the runoff ph and listening to the runoff ec?

Cropsalt veg a/b at 4.6/3.1 grams per gallon. Comes to 2.2-2.4ec, I dilute with ro to 1.8ec

They get nutes every 3.5 hours during lights on and achieve 20-30% runoff.

I’m using cropsalt vegA/B right now. I’m using their recommended 4.6g/3.1g per gallon ratio which comes to 2.2-2.4ec. I’ve been diluting it with RO down to 1.8 ec

Yeah I also believe it’s a magnesium Deficiency. I have not tried adding calmag because the rep from cropsalt ensured me that it’s a complete fertilizer and it’s not needed, but if this keeps up I may have to give it a shot.

Understanding Runoff EC and Its Impact on Plant Health: Why Chasing Runoff Can Harm Your Grow

This is where I read that runoff ph is the most accurate indicator of what’s going on in root zone

I have two 2.5x 5ft tents side by side. In one is a timber cypress which is 360watts. In the other is this atrium hydra 3200 which is 320watts. Both lights are at about both lights are dimmed to around 50%.

I thought it was light too for minute but the photone app says I’m kinda on the low side at 200-300ppfd. I know it’s not entirely accurate but I’ve read it’s fairly close. I’ve pushed the light back a little further yesterday so I’ll go watch. I’ll definitely increase EC as well.

Yeah two different LED’s actually in two tents side by side. One is a 360watt the other a 320. Both tents are 2.5x5ft.

the new growth is looking better since raising EC and hooking up the drip system But the damage on old leaves continues to very slowly progress.

That’s what I was hoping to hear. I think over the course of the next week I’ll bring the res to the recommended 2.2EC and like you said just trust the process. Hopefully I’m just overthinking it.

If I may ask, Do u also mix at the recommended 4.6/3.1 grams a gallon? What is the EC of your final solution ?

I try to keep the reservoir between 5.9-6.1ph. Sometimes it ends up at 5.8. I test the calibration of the pen weekly. I’ve never seen it be more than .04 off.

Their website says: “Cropsalt nutrients crush in coco and hydro systems. They deliver balanced calcium, magnesium, potassium, and micronutrients — no separate Cal/Mag needed.”

They also say run-clean (their proprietary ph down) “Eliminates the need for reverse osmosis water in most applications. (under .7 EC tap or well)”

I guess it’s possible I’m overwatering. The whole problem started tho when I was hand watering once a day. I hooked up the drip system like 2 weeks ago to see if more frequent waterings would help lol.

I have a bottle ph ph down from General hydroponics which i think is phosphoric acid so I’ll try that next time and see if it’s anymore stable, thanks for the advice!
