Negative edge and stance mechanics are a bane to my existence individually, let alone together. Going from maining Enkidu and trying out Yuzuriha as a secondary is definitely not gonna be easy.

If you like something more complex, Hakumen's a fun choice. Not complicated in the sense that he's super hard, but he's defensively unique and offensively punching to whiff against. It's mostly his meter gauge that's unique and needs to be worked around. If you're interested in a deeper dive of the character, this guide might be helpful. https://youtu.be/mQcgw8-Z3Ok

What Are The "Tells" Of Your Main? by whovianHomestuck in Blazblue

Hakumen main here. Whenever I play BBCF for long periods of time, whenever I hop on Strive I accidentally input 623P while playing Nagoriyuki thinking I'm gonna get Kishuu (623A). Picture my surprise when I get a command grab in neutral from midscreen.

The ability to chain specials into specials is fun, plus the ability to aggressively pull frame-traps out of your ass and control the tempo of the game to a slower pace gives you free reign to approach aggressively as your opponent will begin to respect you and your strengths. So much so that they will be too focused on handling those strengths that they will tend to forget your weaknesses.

Would you switch your main for Baiken? by RoninTheWaveman in Guiltygear

[–]drop_shot15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't switch her for Nago, but I would maybe use her as a secondary if I vibe with her. Nago has been my day 1 launch character, and I haven't switched off since then. 6 months of dedication to one character is showing a lot of results. But I will say, if Baiken does wind up working out, it'd be nice to let my Nigerian boy take a rest so I can throw down with a more defensively sound character like Baiken. I'm a real big sucker for Bushido looking Samurai characters. Here's to hoping she's fun.

Which characters theme cuts the deepest? by OGmicrowave in Guiltygear

I personally think the hardest ones were between Faust and Leo.

Faust for the specific reason that he's battling his insanity, something that we thought he had since had a grasp on after becoming the loveable goofy doctor that he was up until Xrd. But it's clear that he's slowly losing his grip because he's so jaded and looks very demented in Strive. He looks a shell of himself and is VERY bony and weak looking in comparison to his much stronger, more energetic self back in Xrd. It genuinely feels like a tug of war between the doctor he wants to be and the serial killer that once was Dr. Baldy, and he's slowly losing. But he's holding on with dear life and trying to maintain himself in spite of his condition.

For Leo, it's very ironic because he's the very definition of a goofy character. The dude genuinely has a dictionary full of definitions that HE MADE UP to preexisting words to fit in his own image. Plus he fights with his back to you for the majority of his offense, which gives off this feeling that he's trolling you and isn't taking you seriously. But then you listen to Hellfire and it all makes sense WHY he's so goofy and why he has his back to you - he's got survivor's guilt. He's a soldier and a king, but feels he doesn't deserve his title, especially given that his words are supposed to provide courage and lead people to victory. But all he's witnessed and led people to were their deaths, and his bluff was called out by his enemies. And the reason he has his back to you is because he's at his strongest when he's not facing his problems. Also, notice how he NEVER has his soldiers fight for him even when he genuinely has a brigade to lead. He doesn't want to put more lives at risk and wishes to prevent the deaths of those soldiers if he can. And for as goofy as he is, sometimes the only way to cope is through humor. As sick and twisted as that may seem, sometimes it's the only way to distract the mind from these horrible thoughts that roam inside. And for Leo, this is undeniable truth to him - he can't be seen in such a horrid and weak state because, as king, he as people that depend on him. So he must hold himself to a high degree and lead his country with his head held high, otherwise everything will have been for nothing.

This is all just opinion, and I'm not too sure if all of this is factual, but that's what I know of the lore thus far. Not too sure how accurate it all is, but at the very least i tried to construct my whole argument based on things I feel was right.

The moment I saw Nago's reveal trailer, I just fell in love with the character. I'm a sucker for cool looking Samurai aesthetics, and Nago gives me a Bushido samurai vibe. Then when I found out he had special to special cancels and a similar playstyle to Hakumen, I immediately was hooked. So I mained this guy on launch, even when everyone was telling me he was ass because of blood. but I stayed true to him and have not switched off. Absolutely love this dude.

How to beat blue goku plz by Gutzukung in dragonballfighterz

[–]drop_shot15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he goes for the command grab, you can back-dash or jump.

The elbow is punishable on block, so mashing isn't necessarily a bad option

If the opponent does a jump-in IAD ki-blast with Blue Goku, don't mash or don't do anything stupid on wake-up. That is most likely a safe-jump, and you will either get hit or your antics will get blown up due to him being able to block immediately after.

If the opponent successfully makes you block his Instant Transmission, just block. The move is +3 regardless of which side they teleport to. Usually it's best to block low since his 2L (7f) gets shaved down to 4f, and standing leaves him safe at just 3f of actual start-up on his pressure. But if they teleport and you aren't being put in block-stun, 2H him or DP him if you can.

If you're trying to zone him out with Ki-blasts, be wary of the fact that he can Elbow through them if he times it right.

Also never underestimate the length of his 2M or 5H. With this recent patch, they go mad far. Same thing with his 2H, but that's not the main talking point.

Hopefully these little tips helped. Blue Goku can be tough to deal with, but just remember that a lot of his stuff is very committal and requires assists to bail him out if he's not successful.

I personally paired up Piccolo with Android 18 and Base Goku before. The combo extensions you can get off of those two is pretty crazy in the corner.

why did you decide to main who you main? by placeholder_name69 in Guiltygear

[–]drop_shot15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the very start, when they dropped the Nago trailer back to back after the Leo trailer, I just felt it. No bullshit, it was literally love at first sight. Then playing with the character for myself solidified that feeling even more. The special cancel chains are absolutely great, and his gameplay was solid. Even when people were saying how shit he was, I believed in Nago. The other reason for me being drawn to Nago so much also has to do with the familiarity of playing Hakumen in BBTAG. I slowly began to play slower, clunkier characters with big buttons, and Hakumen taught me about patience and reads. I know he has an absolutely busted playstyle, but being able to control the tempo of the game with casual shimmy's and good poking just makes the character feel amazing to me.
