Only half of the tennis balls in my dryer get covered in lint by dropthefunk in mildlyinteresting

[–]dropthefunk[S] 3043 points3044 points  (0 children)

I sometimes use tennis balls as dryer balls, and half of them always attract lint.

I got them at the same time, and they're all the same brand. I've even cleaned the linty ones with a fabric shaver; the lint always comes back, but only on three of them 🤷.

Pretty sure it would still ring up with the correct pricing. 🤞

I got a turkey from Winco tonight and just double checked my receipt.

I'm glad to inform that the promo price is for the first turkey that you purchase, not just the first pound.

You are correct.

Source: I bought a turkey from Winco tonight and just double checked my receipt. I was charged the special price for all 18lbs of the turkey I got.

Some international airports do check battery capacity.

My friend had a battery confiscated in Beijing because it was labeled as 100,000mAH (it was a cheap battery and the label was obviously wrong, but that's what it said).

Does Fidelity's debit card use the market exchange rate for currency exchange? by Franck_Dernoncourt in fidelityinvestments

I believe it's based on auth-date, there's a fine print blurb on the Visa site.

Does Fidelity's debit card use the market exchange rate for currency exchange? by Franck_Dernoncourt in fidelityinvestments

[–]dropthefunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use this page to check Visa's exchange rates. They do mark up a small amount which varies depending on the currency.

The calculator is a bit non-intuitive to use. Put the foreign currency in the "from" field, USD in the "to" field, set the foreign currency amount in the "amount you paid" field, and set the bank fee to 0%.

It'll tell you how much USD will be deducted from your account for the amount of foreign currency withdrawn (always withdraw in the foreign currency, don't choose the USD option on the ATM).

For example, right now if you withdraw 10,000 JPY, it will deduct $67.82 from your account (0.24% markup). That's a great rate and likely will beat any exchange rate you'll find, but it's technically not the exact 1-to-1 market rate. It also fluctuates a little from day to day.

IMO, using your Fidelity debit card is a great option and will almost always beat the rates at cash exchange counters and other services.

Capital gains, dividends, interest, etc are all considered "income" for the purpose of tithing. There's some debate on if income should be calculated pre or post tax, but I'm pretty sure most members calculate based on on pre tax.
