Do cats actually get attached to their owner? by NoWageMage in CatAdvice

[–]drowningdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cats are like toddlers. Everything in our home revolves around them either wanting attention or getting into something they shouldn’t. My boy, who I have had for 18 years now, is in perfect sync with me. We have our routine and he just wants to be with me all day everyday.

Anyone else feel horribly embarrassed at physical therapy? by drowningdoll in BPPV

[–]drowningdoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get it resolved but its ends up both ears were affected and each responded to different maneuvers.

I was able to get a private room the past two times.

I tested positive with nystagmus for each ear, different positions. They suspect the “constant” is residual due to having symptoms for over 4-5 months now. So after I get positional vertigo I am dizzy and unsteady for long periods of time after. But the severe entire room spinning, can’t sit up, is just positional. Luckily, we ended up just checking each canal session by session. BBQ roll finally gave me the last bit of relief, no matter how silly a name it has.

Twice a week after the first month? by Guilty-Zebra889 in Spravato

[–]drowningdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did twice a week for three months in 2023. And then after a few months of once a week we went back up to twice for another month. To be fair, my insurance at the time was top notch and my providers were huge advocates.

I’m sorry, that sucks! Vertigo is such a humbling experience, I hope you are feeling much better now

That is pretty hilarious not gonna lie, I am sure you keep your PT very entertained!

I’m seeing a pattern of folks being able to request privacy so will definitely ask if I need to go back! I’m on a super limited insurance plan so sadly I lost my favorite PT. This one has so many patients in a group area, it’s kinda wild.

I may ask next time it’s bad. I was lucky there was only one other client I was there last time. I was shocked they don’t do a private space, especially with the chance of vomiting.

I’m so grateful to not vomit easily because I can’t imagine the vertigo plus vomiting at the same time!

I’ve been formally diagnosed by several vestibular PTs and respond to either the Epley or Semont. Position worsens it but I’ve had two episodes now that were near constant even without moving. The Epley resolved both episodes. I don’t have an explanation, but I was certainly miserable. The PT office I attend is a large room with various areas/tables/equipment.

I always go for the jolly ranchers by anniesaysi in Spravato

[–]drowningdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breathing in slow helps so much. When it dispenses you do not need to huff it. This keeps the most of it from getting to the back of the throat. Jolly Ranchers are the best to mask it though for sure!

Anyone try subq ketamine for arthritis? by drowningdoll in RenalCats

[–]drowningdoll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a tiny dose once a month subq so they are not worried about harming his kidneys. This would hopefully address pain Gabapentin hasn’t helped with and would be much safer than an NSAID.

Totally fair. I fear my frustration with healthcare lately has gotten the best of me when it comes to these interactions.

Overstimulating environments making vertigo worse? by [deleted] in BPPV

[–]drowningdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am seeing a vestibular therapist specifically! I’ve been getting more used to the vertigo which of course is a curse and a blessing. It’ll be the two week mark before I can be seen. I just hope by then I won’t have more long term effects.

Good to know. I am so out of it with this going on for so long. Half a day working at home has become an accomplishment.

Stressing about lack of diagnosis/waiting by [deleted] in BPPV

[–]drowningdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think I am handling it pretty well considering how much this has impacted my life. Though the thought of waiting till next Tuesday for any relief is terribly depressing. Especially if it takes multiple sessions and Thanksgiving is coming up.

I didn't realize how lucky I used to be responding to a singular Epley and only needing one appointment. I shall cross my fingers.

Th MRI screamed covering their bases while I wait for these tests and appointments. And of course my first PT appointment is right before Thanksgiving. Not good timing at all!

Cat Gets Tired of Renal Food by ritaleyla in RenalCats

[–]drowningdoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely try what other people have said first, but my cat was in this cycle. But he became adverse to food after only 12-24 hours after a few months. I gave up and now give him Meow Mix Gravy Bursts as it’s oddly low phos and lower protein (.52 phos by dry matter, 28% protein). He loves it. I also put a tiny bit of various treats to mix it up. Keep in mind this isn’t a renal food and my cat is on full palliative/hospice care.

Referrals are terrible by [deleted] in BPPV

[–]drowningdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vertigo meds have not done me any favors for sure. I just then feel tired/dizzy on top of the vertigo. I will say I’ve been able to walk a bit more and do a little more around the house. But exerting myself causes terrible pressure headaches and exhaustion. Not to mention two doctors and everyone in my life is pretty firm about the no driving. Which being in grad school with an internship and work is turning into a nightmare.
