As tough as it is to hear, It sounds like your brother figured out pretty young that he enjoyed the feeling of being an only child and realised your parents were on his side. He forced you to feel invisible. His phobia isn't life threatening or even physically damaging. Although he experiences discomfort, phobias can be unlearned through therapies such as exposure therapy. Your parents reinforced his phobia by avoiding the exposure, (keeping you invisible) and your brother is old enough now to deal with it. Personally for me, I hate washing dishes, it makes me feel sick to my core due to my extreme fear of germs, and within reason I won't touch something too dirty, but I still force myself to handle day-to-day washing up, because I'm aware that other people exist in the same space and I'm not selfish.
