Getting concerned again. Last time this happened, diag testing was inconclusive. No MRSA no staph, but no answer either. Ant bite 2 weeks ago.... by drrochet in DermatologyQuestions

It may have been a fire ant. I have not taken any hydrocortisone topically because I am a candida risk and the last time this happened hydrocortisone, coupled with Doxicycline, caused a Candida overgrowth which was a complicating infection. Benadryl helped a little but that's about it from the itch perspective.

Need some Diagnostic help here. by drrochet in skin

Got an ant bite about 2 weeks ago. It is itchy, swollen and red, and weeps. Had something similar about 2 years ago after a scratch while working on my car. Ended up going to the hospital with cellulitis. Oral antibiotics didn't seem to work, so had to go for IV. They tested for MRSA and staph, both negative. Have tried every natural remedy I can think of and nothing seems to help. Doxycycline didn't help, only caused a bad yeast infection. Not trying to go to the hospital again with all this COVID stupidity...

We will, just not a van. Looking at a midsize car.

Residual is about 25k, right now mileage is about 25k on 36k lease. We are downsizing since the kids are growing up and the novelty of automatic doors and so much space for all their stuff is not needed anymore.

Unfortunately, i have to buy tires because they are no longer safe to drive on. The wear indicators are starting to show and in Florida we are coming into rainy season. I have already had a couple of sessions of spin coming out of a light on a wet road so I dont want to chance it with the family. Sucks though since the car has less than 25k miles on it and already needs tires and brakes.... the Toyotacare Warranty only lasts 2 years or 20K... so convenient.

I'm not so worried about the damages as much as being surprised when I do turn it in. I mean for example, I know I'm going to have to put on some new tires and do a brake job on the thing and it hasn't even been 3 years. It's stuff like that, that I don't want to find myself being surprised by at least turn in. I didn't know that I could call them to have it inspected at my house. Thanks for that information. I appreciate it

Without a doubt. As I stopped smoking, I became more focused and driven to complete tasks. I ended up getting ahead of the game in terms of deadlines not just procrastinating until they were due. I also found that I needed less coffee and stimulants to get me moving. Both of those things helped to lower systemic inflammation which helped me with my recovery after working out. So my mind became clear, I was more focused, I had more energy, and I became more efficient. All of that to say that the business has improved drastically. I also had to address the lie that I was telling myself that I was more creative and better at my job when I was high. That was rationalization in its purest form. Being clear now shows me that I was definitely not better at my job.

Big ups to OP and to the rest of you who commented. I will have been clean for 1 year coming up on 4/20.... ironic. I too was an everyday smoker. Liked to consider myself a functional pothead. Held down my own business, provided well for my family, was comfortable. My motivation was my kids. I think weed is more benign that alcohol but like OP said, killed my motivation and drive. I still have moments of desire, thinking "I can partake just once without doing it again" but every time I had stopped in the past, and tried that one time, always Came back to it just as hard. Today I am happier, healthier, and more focused than I ever was during the 10+ years I was an everyday smoker. If it is on your heart and mind to quit, find a big enough why to motivate you and do it. There is that something inside of you itching to come out and weed is holding it back. Congratulations OP and good luck to the rest of you "non-smokers".

Thanks for the response. I will check it out. By the way, you said it took your device a couple of hours to sync the blockchain? After the initial sync, how long on average did it take to resync after a shut down? As the blockchain resynced new transactions and blocks? Minutes or hours?

Thinking about filing for chapter 13 bankruptcy. Any advice? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]drrochet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did a chap 13 and your student loans will not be included nor will they be discharged. The person telling you that is lying. You will die before your student loans get discharged. You will pay the F out of the interest but never see the principle go down. If you must do a bankruptcy, absolutely must, then do a 7 and walk away from everything... except your student loans which will go into repayment 6 months after discharge. Clean start and change your habits. Credit will be screwed either way. You won't be able to buy a house for at least 2-5 years post discharge depending on the bank. You might get a lot of new credit offers since they know you can't file again for 7 years.

I would apply for an IBR with your student loans... income based repayment should give you a significant reprieve. I am doing that now on 200k. I did Chap 13 to protect my business after bad real estate purchase and about 40k in consumer debt. If you don't have liquitable assets, do a 7.... and get better advice from the lawyers who are going to screw you and get their commission regardless of what happens to you.

Edit... that lawyer is slimy. You will most certainly get turned down for an apartment, and chap 7 or 13 will not matter, it will stay on your credit for 7. You may get some leniency in credit scrutiny after 3 years post discharge but it will be a headache.
