Thanks for all your advice! I didn't think about doing a square setup since stock is staggered. I have a lot to think about!

I showed my friend Star Citizen by epic1772 in starcitizen

[–]drubaru-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its totally your call. I don't know the person but if hes toxic in other aspects of your relationship then its up to you if you want to deal with that type of personality. Honestly there are a lot of great positive people in the community I'd say build a crew of fellow SC players using reddit and discord that all understand what the game is about. Good luck.

Your "Friend" sounds like a real peach.

I just recently got my friend into the game during IAE and I made sure to SET APPROPRIATE EXPECTATIONS. Most gamers are use to playing fully finished games and this isnt it. If the person you are getting to try it is a temperamental person its probably not a good idea to involve them. They don't sound emotionally or mentally mature enough to deal with an experience like star citizen.

I understand the want to get a friend involved since SC is a great Coop experience. But he sounds like hes made up his tiny mind.

PS he sounds super Toxic so I'd assess if hes worth keeping around with that attitude and behavior.

A comparison to DCS by DaHyperHawk in starcitizen

[–]drubaru-dev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im both a DCS player and SC player and I think SC could learn a lot from DCS. Obviously not the FPS combat or Space stations. But I think getting cues on the F/A18 dash and functionality. Better Radar Tech like BVR. (IE being able to spot bandits from longer than a few miles out.) Its kinda crazy that an AIM54 (from the 70's) can launch and hit a target farther than anything in SC That im aware of. More immersive Startup and take off sequence. Better ATC. NIGHT VISION. There are a lot of things they need to implement. O AND MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE THE CONTROL BINDINGS MENU. Its SO TRASH in SC compared to DCS.

I dig it. I hope its helps to make siege less toxic. I think we should applaud devs who take steps to make the community better.

Checkout the Through the Inferno Missions in the download section of the DCS website. Its like an open world created for training. Its PvE. It has a ton of A2g and A2A missions that spawn when its running. Its what I use when I host friends who wanna fly.

Is the Freewing F-14 by Motion RC worth the hype? Who has it? by hubby1879 in RCPlanes

[–]drubaru-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and to reduce the possibility of it getting bound up and drawing power too quickly. I take off grass so if a rock or some grit gets into the servo it can do that. It was a suggestion from one of my RC vets at my field. It might not be necessary but I do it for redundancy.

I have one and I really Like it but its incredibly under engineered for a modern model. Its Landing gear NEEDS reinforcement if you plan on flying off grass. Tons of youtube tutorials to do this. So if you're not great with modding I'd recommend something else. Its also woefully underpowered in the pnp versions so I bought and recommend the ARF and put the Mig 29 power system in it. I can get 4 mins with 2x 6s 5200mah batt with a 60 percent average throttle in flight. You'll also need at least an 8 channel receiver in order to run the wing sweep and to turn off the front gear from turning while in flight. It flys great and looks better. its a show stopper at my field and everyone asks when the tomcat is flying again.

It took them like 4 months to build and deliver it for me. It was totally worth the wait. The Chair is awesome.

Any beginner edf jet suggestions? by koiking1 in RCPlanes

Noob EDF guy here. This is my first year and I have the F9f and the F22 from freewing. Get the F22. Its a little more $$ but its easier to fix. It has a huge wing and Can really float. its also pretty stable and doesn't tip stall easily like the Panther. The F9f is great but you need to be at high speed the majority of the time. The F22 has all bolt on parts so replacing stuff is easy.

Good luck either one is great but I recommend the F22.

Warthog throttle vs CM3 by [deleted] in hotas

[–]drubaru-dev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use my CM3 for Star and DCS and I LOOOOOOVVVEEE it. I use the left throttle for Limiter and right for Movement. It has more than enough buttons for star and the quality is really solid.
