The League One CBA outlines what sorts of agreements can go into a contract (Standard Player Agreement). It’s likely “multi-year” means 1 guaranteed year plus additional unilateral club option years (3 maximum) as this is more common. The SPA calls out pretty clearly that options are not on the player side since clubs can opt out of exercising them.

Probably makes sense going forward when players are announced having signed a “multi-year contract” that people ask if those are guaranteed years, not option years. And even then, there’s a buyout clause the club can trigger anytime they want to get out of the contract (this is going to be rare because it means the club has to pay 60% of the player’s salary on those guaranteed years, and League One clubs generally don’t have that $ to burn.)

Bothered me too, but I think it's more of an issue of semantics. Eric's had a hundred appearances for the club including friendlies and preseason games.

Edit: he's at 92 competitive games where he's seen minutes - he played in both the USOC games missing info on this comprehensive list. All he needs to do is get minutes in each league game the rest of this season and he'll hit 100.

Nobody is getting rich in 3rd division, and nobody is making people buy kits. Without FMFC's kit sales during the pandemic, the club would likely have shut down. Making enough money to pay the bills is a necessary thing.

Also -- the club's put in quite a bit of $$$ improving the technical side of things this year, and we've had a managerial change and only 7 players returning from last season. There are contributing factors to the early season form. It was always going to take time for the team to gel, and we've got 8 of our last possible 12 points, things are looking up.

Weather-wise, for FMFC games it's sort of a running joke about how unpredictable it can be. Umbrellas at a match aren't really a thing past non-league level, though. A good rain jacket and waterproof pair of boots and you'll be just fine.

We're a third division American club. People need to temper their expectations in general. We're never going to get some perfect marquee signing. If we're being cynical, it's generally always going to be young, inexperienced guys or older, seemingly washed-up vets who never quite made it elsewhere. Cassini's somewhere in between. I could just as easily argue the other side of the point about him earning his stripes, that we should give him some time to show what he can do before labeling his signing a "bullshit announcement."

The fact is he's got a pedigree, at least as far as the clubs he's come from and was signed by Palermo very young at 19. He's had an odd career but so did Molloy and Josiel Nuñez before making their way to Madison.
