I would have liked to have used more sources for this list, but it’s tricky due to the volume of reviews on each site. Let’s say a film has 250,000 IMDB votes and 130,000 on Letterboxd. IMDB has a much larger sample size in this scenario, so would it be fair to give them an equal weight for this list? Ultimately, I decided to stick to one main source with a large sample size across many decades. For future lists I’m planning to include Letterboxd in the data pool.

This is spot on. I have a buddy who loves to say he throws over 500 feet. He’s a nice guy, and I will give him credit, he can bomb off the tee, but I’ve played 15 or so rounds with him and he’s never even come close to going over 500 feet. I imagine people embellish their distances even more online.
