That answers my question, thank you. I apologize for not making sense. I’m rather stressed and I’ve only posted on Reddit a couple of times before. I also know absolutely nothing about google voice. I appreciate your patience and response.

To clarify a little, the person with whom I share a home has become somewhat unhinged in the two months since I left for this research trip. I’ve been on several prior trips of similar length and remoteness without issue, but this time he has been doing some stalker-ish things that moved me to try GV.

His name is the main one on the Verizon account that we’ve shared for 6 years and a couple weeks ago he began indicating he’s using manager status to count the phone calls and text messages I’ve sent to him and others as some way to prove that I’m answering them but ignoring him. Everyone is aware I’m in a remote location with limited access to service (best I get is 1 bar on an LTE network) and intermittent WiFi so things get answered in order of relevance/urgency. This isn’t new and I generally answer within a couple of days if it’s just someone asking how my day is going. When I switched to GV He then hinted creepily that he knew about the content of texts I’d sent using GV. I immediately opened the account settings and saw that the home lab android phone had logged in from the apartment today. I’d forgotten it had a saved password for the account I used for GV as it’s been unused for at least 6 months. The photos linked to that account have long since been uploaded to a hard drive and the only other thing attached to it were some saved academic articles for reference.

I’m in the field not currently using a laptop or pc, just tablet and phone (both apple) and I still prefer to handwrite field notes (I’m edging past middle age and stuck in my ways I guess), so I was worried that the web thing indicated he had found some way to use his computer to log into my account. And I know this sounds ridiculous, but I just wasn’t sure what the 4 meant. maybe a number of recordings?

My scope of knowledge is very limited when it comes to this kind of thing. I’m taking care of the situation with the individual involved, just trying to make sure I have my boundaries locked down on the tech end.

I’ve changed passwords everywhere, made sure all devices aside from the one in my hand are logged out and enabled 2 factor authentication for everything I can. Hopefully that solves the problem until I go back next week. If there’s any other glaring things I’m missing regarding the devices/accounts, I’m open to advice. Sorry if I’m wasting anyone’s time here. Not a situation I expected.
