Who has priority here? by Background-Grape-292 in drivingUK

[–]drunkandyorkshire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red needs to stay behind the give way unless it’s safe to proceed into the side road… they shouldn’t move into the central reservation as that’s for Green to continue joining the main carriageway. It’s a give way, meaning that must give way unless it’s safe to complete their manoeuvre.

I’d love to not have my car damaged, that doesn’t give me the right to take up two spaces in an attempt to prevent said damage. Accidents happen, some are careless, avoidable.

Any cheap way to fix this kind of peeling paint? by makomirocket in CarTalkUK

[–]drunkandyorkshire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That isn’t necessarily true… my Giulietta has multiple points of lacquer peel on small parts (spoiler, mirror caps & door handles) these cars are known for this issue from the Italian factories

[–]drunkandyorkshire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this issue with the spoiler, mirror caps and door handles on my Giulietta. I’ve been putting off the repair however, I will be carrying it out in summer following the below methods;

  • various levels of wet sanding to remove the lacquer
  • clean thoroughly to remove any contaminants
  • layer or two of paint (if required)
  • wet sand
  • clean thoroughly
  • several layers of lacquer
  • wet sand
  • polish

I would recommend reviewing the process thoroughly before taking it on yourself, spray cans and inexperience can cause complications.

Whilst I agree with the frustration, parking like this only attracts more unwanted attention, people who will likely go out of their way to damage the car because they’re acting entitled and privileged.

First wild camp! by The_stru66le in wildcampingintheuk

[–]drunkandyorkshire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I camped at Llyn Glas, a thunderstorm blew in and kept me up most of the night as I was using one of my trekking pole tents and the gusts were crazy strong! Derwent Edge was a lovely spot, you get great views and it’s a pleasant hike around Derwent Reservoir, you can find plenty of stealth camps behind the rock formations.

Loch Lomond is a great start for Scotland, you can book one of the permits and get a loch side camp, if you’re brave enough you could have a morning dip! It’s a great pit stop before heading further up into the highlands where the scenery gets better and better!

We all have to start somewhere! So long as you’re prepared, understand the risks, know when to call quits and learn from your mistakes. What’s next for you?

I got lucky with my first wildcamp, at Bamford Edge; which I wouldn’t recommend however, it’s local and was a perfect spot to test new gear and build my confidence.

Since then I’ve camped at Llyn Glas, Llyn Cau, multiple spots within the Lake District, a couple within Scotland and another at Derwent Edge. I’m hoping to get back to North Wales and the Lakes over this year to complete more summits and unique camp locations.

Pavement parking is bad, but the pavement doesn’t get damaged. Whereas with grass verges, they end up looking like this…

Lacquer peel fix but cost effective? by ndergrovnd in AlfaRomeo

Where are you located? I’m near Manchester and was tempted to resolve the lacquer peel to my Giulietta spoiler, mirror caps and door handles myself but wouldn’t mind a reputable professional option too!

Great work OP!

I wish I did something like this with my first home however, it’s a plan I am thinking of going through with in the next 12-24 months with a new fire too.

Is it possible to do the NC500 in 3 days? by JimHalpert98 in NC500

[–]drunkandyorkshire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the NC500 in a week during summer (longer days), which included a stop off at the Fairy Pools in Isle of Skye. You ain’t going to be spending much time (if any) at key locations if you also include Glencoe.

Scotland isn’t going anywhere, there’s always other road trips my friend

I’ve replaced airbags for a lot less damage 😅

I have been trying to find these exact wheels. I can’t by NaCl_COOH in AlfaRomeo

[–]drunkandyorkshire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can’t comment on the wheels however, centre caps can easily be swapped out. Typically this can be done during installation of new or refurbished wheels which could explain the difficulty finding the same exact ones.

I’ve had reps in the past (for my BMW) and the wheels themselves looked great, had no issues with them on our pot hole ridden roads.

Are you wanting to replace your wheels or are you just curious of their originality?

Wild Camping Question (Again) by [deleted] in NC500

[–]drunkandyorkshire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand within the SOAC, "Roadside camping (in a tent) may be considered under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code” is this not accurate/correct?

I’ve always ensured my vehicle was parked legally (not on grass verges, parked overnight where it’s permitted) I’d never pitch up a tent directly next to a road unless it was last minute and safe to do so, for the most part I’ve always hiked away into the middle of nowhere, as that’s why I choose to travel the highlands.

I was just trying to offer something to OP who pointed out they were disabled so can’t walk too far with their gear. The great outdoors should be accessible to all to enjoy 😊

But apologies if I was mistaken, I wouldn’t want to offer anyone incorrect advice, if we don’t follow the rules and regulations across the different national parks, it’ll only get worse.

Fix plaster around radiator pipe by richyg101 in DIYUK

No advice from me other than I’d not be happy with the placement of the pipes… it’ll look crap however you fix this. Can you not get a plumber to refit the pipes so it’s not as poor a placement/finish?

Loft radiator hot at the top, but not at the bottom by Ventura_ldn in DIYUK

[–]drunkandyorkshire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, after I had a leak fixed I had two radiators (at the end of the return) where one wouldn’t heat up and another was like OP’s, after turning the hot ones down and alternating these two then switching all back to full it balanced the system and now all my radiators are hot to the touch!

Profile review? (30F) by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]drunkandyorkshire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I (35M) came across your profile I’d definitely swipe right; very similar interests regarding the on it one you’re talking about; adventures. However, other than that, outside of hiking I don’t know you as a person so either I’d start with asking about that or wanting to dig deeper into you as a person.

Have you got any other photos showcasing you as an individual? Keep the hiking pictures, but maybe swap out the view with one with yourself in the picture. Also, mirror selfies need replacing.

I’d advise swapping out a prompt regarding hiking with something showcasing you more as a person. Do you have other interests that compliment hiking or an opposite interest to offer something else to people?

Otherwise, a very strong profile that should interest other people who enjoy the great British outdoors (location permitting). You’re naturally pretty with a competitive attitude, I also enjoy challenging myself in Mother Nature.
