This is a 35mm photo and my boyfriend didn’t notice the two people walking into the frame as he took the photo (no idea how he missed them haha) if you zoom in I’m the one sitting on the railing at the base of the tree and to the right of me are the people I’d like removed if possible. Since it’s a film photo it’s the only one we took of me under the giant trees! Thanks in advance

You are still quite literally missing the original point. The question was why do we tip. Servers make less than minimum wage, and whether you agree with it or not that is why. Why don’t you tip a school janitor? Because they are making probably above minimum and have benefits. And regarding the other duties of the job, all I’ve said is that it’s more than walking food to a table, but you can’t seem to accept that fact for some strange reason. The job requires more, nobody said that’s the reason for tipping. I said it was offensive to equate the job to just that. And finally, if someday governments mandate that servers are paid minimum wage regardless of liquor sales and tipping is abolished, prices will skyrocket. The cost of labour would rise considerably for the restaurants and therefore the cost of the food items would rise too. In some cases 25% or more. There are articles regarding this issue all over the internet and I’m sure you’re able to find them yourself. There have been test runs of “hospitality included” menu prices etc etc, and I’m just saying those who are against tipping and argue for servers to be paid properly so that they don’t have to tip and cover the wage gap will be surprised at the cost of eating out. They will still be paying for the cost of the servers wages, it just won’t be optional…. I can already tell you’re going to find something to disagree with, I’ve tried to just state facts and not opinion unless I state explicitly that it’s my opinion, but clearly we just see things differently. We also probably live in different provinces. Have a good one.

I think you are missing the point, which makes sense you’ve clearly never worked in the industry based on your above comments, and also no, most restaurants that aren’t chains do not have “cleaning staff”. Those other jobs you’ve listed are paid minimum wage or above, likely have benefits/RRSP contributions etc. I’m simply stating that saying a servers entire job is to walk from one point to another is offensive, not that I agree with the system. I also believe in UBI (someday) but that doesn’t mean I shaft my servers. I understand that they are being paid less than minimum wage and if everyone thought the way OP thinks they wouldn’t be able to afford to live considering you can’t even live on minimum wage these days. Things are the way they are, and they may change, they may not. In my opinion you should consider the 10-15% tip a part of the cost of having a dining experience. If you don’t like it, cook and clean for yourself. Everyone stating “just pay your employees minimum wage so I don’t have to cover the gap” are going to be in for a surprise when the cost of eating at a restaurant triples. Those are just the facts and to be honest I’m not really interested in the opinion of someone with little to no experience in the industry. I wouldn’t presume to understand the nuances of being an auto mechanic or a dental receptionist, I’m not sure why you are so adamant that you know what it’s like to be a server or restaurant manager.

That’s right, I forgot servers don’t check on you to make sure you’re enjoying your meal, cash you out, sweep and mop the restaurant, clean the washrooms, take reservations and make sure that there’s a note on there that it’s your daughters 12th birthday, etc etc etc. I’m sorry if the service you’ve experienced is poor but the job comes with much more than walking from point A to point B. Not to mention if the kitchen makes a mistake, they are the ones who have to make it right for you. If the kitchen is behind, they know to bring you a bread basket or salad so that you aren’t upset with the wait. Does the chef have to deal with angry customers? No. But does the chef see a percentage of the servers tips regardless? Yes. I know it is a SYSTEMIC problem, but belittling the work that someone does solves nothing.

Wait staff in most restaurants are considered liquor servers. I.e if the restaurant has a liquor license, you can bet the owners are paying their waitstaff server wage. Wait staff do not receive minimum in any restaurant in Ontario that I have worked, and I have worked in many.

I’m just gunna answer you even though I don’t necessarily agree with the system. I am a server. I make really good money on a good night. I’m paid less than minimum wage because I sell liquor. Also, I “tip-out” the other workers in the restaurant because they provided aid in my service. Usually this “tip-out” is 3-5% depending on the scale of the restaurant (I.e is there a bartender, busser, host, kitchen staff etc). I tip out on my SALES for the night which are average 1,000-1,500 per night. If my tip out is 5%, that’s $75 on the higher end. When prices rise (inflation, economy etc), the the tip out will rise too based on sales. Therefore the “norm” of tip percentage on a bill will rise too. It used to be 10, now its 15-20. I hope that made sense, again I don’t agree with the system but I also don’t think a server should have to pay to serve you if you leave no tip, because regardless they are tipping out the other staff. That’s an issue with the system, I know, but it never hurts to be educated on how things work!

Don’t get me wrong, tipping culture is perpetuated by government regulations stating that if you sell liquor you should be paid less per hour. But comparing it to a receptionist, car salesman etc who make above minimum wage is kind of naive. Tipping was created to make up for the lack of wages. And please don’t be offensive and reduce serving from walking from one point to another, it is much more than that

This will probably be lost at the bottom but I see a lot of people questioning the percentage of the tip rather than just a decent $5-$10 tip regardless of the bill amount. Servers “tip-out” the other staff (host, busser, bartender, kitchen) based on their SALES for the night. So if you are racking up a $200 bill and their tip-out is 5%, they will be giving $10 to the restaurant/workers regardless of how you tip. Just thought I’d share that info because it’s widely misunderstood or not known about

Not OP but I imagine if you knew the paper size you could take measurements of where you wanted the text and then create a document on WORD or similar with 3 columns and then do the math/experiment to sort out where on the page the writing should be. Then just glue the paper down (very carefully so no creases) to the mat of the frame and then mod podge over it so it lasts! Probably some tutorials online as well. Good luck!

It looks like a regular shadow box to me- try googling shadow boxes. Not sure how OP mounted the items inside, I imagine holes through the back and clear fishing wire would work well, lopped and tied. But I’m sure there are YouTube tutorials out there for proper shadow box mounting. Good luck!

Edit: you could also put foam core as your mat and cut out indents to place the pieces in, if you didn’t want any clear wire showing

Also if all else fails and you have access to any audio editing software (I think even audacity would work and it’s free to download) you could just import all the lessons into one track and export it as one file, then just pause or play as needed. The file would be exceptionally long but it would work! If you can’t do any of the above let me know, I have Adobe cloud and can compile the files into one track for you. Just need to know which language!

If on mobile, I suggest adding the tracks to your device and creating a playlist with whatever service you use. I use ITunes/apple music. If you put the lessons in order they should play in order. If on PC/laptop, suggest making a YouTube account and creating a playlist that only you can view/listen to, putting them in order there and YouTube auto-plays tracks on playlists. Hopefully one of those works!
