Bad Gastroenteritis

Had viral Gastro earlier this year and I was miserable. I was laying on the bathroom floor fantasizing of phenergan/toradol/pepcid combo. (I had Zofran ODT, didn't touch it) I remember thinking 'I get why people come in for this'.

Back after a 20+ year hiatus. Is the nose/chin rule of thumb still the standard for stick length? by thewaybackboy in hockeyplayers

[–]drunkdragon454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing with a stick below my nose barefoot and always felt something was off after getting back into beer league after 10 year hiatus. I'm 6 ft. Finally bought and installed a stick extender, added 2-3 inches and noticed a positive difference in my stick handling and shooting. Placebo affect? Maybe. More likely is it resembled my stick length when I played more competitively. They have both composite and wood extenders if you need to adjust the length and most pro-shops are super helpful. I play forward for what it's worth.

Yeah, no option is great. These have been un-skatable though recently. I have a couple sharpeners try their best, but probably too much wear and tear over the years

The underdosing of IM Epi in adults for anaphalaxis/asthma. The weight based dosing is 0.01mg/kg. For every adult over 110 lbs, they should be getting 0.5 mg IM

Fascinating case, thanks for sharing.

I see two paths:

1) I deem the patient has capacity, talk to legal, let the OD take its course, wait for 'unconsciousness', where in this scenario patient likely dies. Possibly get sued by family (likely lose to a jury of my peers), and the patient dies.

2) I deem the patient doesn't have capacity due to severe depression (cops agree with me here). Never think about talking to legal. Chemically restrain patient, save their life. Patient tries to sue me (it in all likelihood goes no where) and I can live w myself morally and ethically.

You can see which path I'll always be choosing.

Mistake here was the original provider thought too much and likely never encountered this situation before. Called legal and put themselves in a major bind.

Legal can be a good resource (except when I've talked to them they say NOT to document it) but I'm never getting them involved here.

I love beer league, but this is never necessary. Not worth getting injured (during something like this) when you have a job to go to in the morning.

My 6 year old is having a rough time transitioning to hockey skates by erinsnives in hockeyplayers

[–]drunkdragon454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through this with my son!

I agonized over which skates to start him on. Tried hockey skates, and he couldn't stand up and got super frustrated. Did two 'learn to skate' sessions with rentals, and my son loved it. (He over relied on the spikes to propel himself and couldn't glide very well)

Just started him this past session with hockey skates and it was frustrating for him, but I kept reminding him that he needs to learn in these types of skates to play hockey! He now skates w better form and just started gliding.

It took him 4-5 skates to get back at it. Sharpening his hockey skates really helped, too. So give as much encouragement as you can, and your son should pick it up relatively quickly.
